Xibei Village: Ancient House Museum, where time stands still

Zhuji, Shaoxing, was once the capital of the ancient Yue Kingdom. This ancient city, home to Xi Shi and the place where King Goujian of Yue endured hardship, is now famous for its pearls and has preserved many ancient villages and Jiangnan-style ancient houses. During the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty, Zhuji, Shaoxing, had three wonders: "Xibei people's houses, Sizhai people's bamboo, and Futang people's rice." 【Xibei Village】, currently preserves 13 ancient houses from the Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China period and is listed in the Chinese Traditional Villages Directory. Among the many ancient houses, the two most famous ones are Xinyi Hall and Jishu Hall. ⭐Xinyi Hall Built during the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty by Xu Ning, the fourth-generation descendant of the Xu family in Xibei. The entire house is designed with three courtyards and five rows of side rooms, covering a total area of 4,603 square meters. It has 85 rooms, 28 alleys, 17 bases, 26 courtyards, and 778 columns, making it the largest ancient house in Xibei Village. In front of Xinyi Hall, there is a crescent-shaped pond built at the end of the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, named "Fengqiu Pond." ⭐Jishu Hall Built during the Daoguang period of the Qing Dynasty, it is famous for its exquisite and ingenious carvings.
