The Chiang Mai Yi Peng Festival is my favorite Thai festival, bar none. The ancient city is adorned with lanterns everywhere, and there are activities all around the old town. Each temple hosts various events, and during the festival, temples that usually require tickets are open to all visitors for free. You can enjoy the lanterns, make wishes, and release floating lanterns and sky lanterns, which is a lot of fun. After that, you can visit the North Gate Night Market, South Gate Night Market, and the night market behind Chiang Mai University to enjoy some snacks and stroll around leisurely. The best place to watch the parade is at Tha Phae Gate, but it is also very crowded there, which is quite interesting. Additionally, I recommend my favorite temple, which is shown in the photo below with lanterns hanging everywhere. พิถี phithi, not far from Carrot Coffee, is a snack shop run by a young couple. The shop is warm and friendly, and provides simple but authentic Thai food. I ordered beef rice noodle soup and Thai milk. The beef was tender and the beef balls were chewy. The soup is delicious and the noodles taste very refreshing and have an excellent texture. The Thai milk is made fresh, which is unexpectedly labor-intensive. It is not overly sweet and tastes delicious. It’s not bad to have a glass of Thai milk filled with ice cubes at noon in the hot weather! It's my second visit to Chiang Mai, and this quiet little city is full of hidden gems. In an inconspicuous corner of the northwest of the old city of Chiang Mai, there is a white European-style building with golden decorations, distressed murals, and carvings, all exuding a Renaissance style. 🏛 There is a separate building that you must visit, where you need to remove your shoes. I arrived here in the morning to discover a meticulously designed golden stupa surrounded by various golden animal statues. At the center of the stupa, intricate carvings of various Buddha images were visible. In front of it, a red table held offerings and fresh flowers, and I respectfully joined my hands in prayer as a sign of reverence. Across from the golden stupa, there was a building housing several Buddha statues. Overall, this was a profoundly sacred place, with its intricate design, golden accents, and the sense of serenity it exuded.

If you come to Chiang Mai and don't stay here for a night, I will be sad. Failed to book a room with a pool, but I will come back next time! Upon check-in, a welcome drink is provided. It is said to be a community space created by artists in Thailand. Ban Kang Wat itself is a work of art because it was created by artists. There are flea markets, performances, galleries, art experiences, and other things to see and enjoy at Ban Kang Wat Square. Of course, there are also food items sold like a night market and cafes, so it is good to eat and rest here and there and look around. It is not very large, so you can go around in the morning! I didn't know how time passed because I was looking at all the cute props. I also bought a pretty handmade bracelet. I sat on the outdoor seats in the square and had some delicious khao soi! It's a place full of Chiang Mai's unique leisurely and artistic feel, so I visited twice, once on the weekend and once on the weekday.
