The cable car station is very close to Izukyu Shimoda Train Station, so it is very convenient to walk there. The cable car leaves every fifteen minutes, so you don’t have to wait too long before you can get on the cable car and head to Mt. Nezi. The cable car ride is short, about five to ten minutes, and offers a panoramic view of Shimoda City. Because the weather was very good that day, after arriving at the Mt. Shirahama beach is a sister beach of Waikiki beach of Honolulu Hawaii. A beautiful white sand beach. It has a nice promenade in some sort of green stone from the right of the beach near a shrine to the left near the Tsukumoto Ashiyu. It is right in “town” so there are a lot of activities around that area. Senjojiki sandstones and Sandambeki cliff are easy walks from the beach area. One of my best favourite and you can rent chair and umbrella. Plenty of food choice and car park at a fee nearby. Water is very clean and you can relax for at least a half day here. Shimoda Underwater Aquarium was so great. I went there on Sunday and it was not crowded. Dolphins and sea lion show was super memorable! You can enjoy the shows and shopping within 3 hours. They also has small canteen selling unique fries made from shark. The souvenirs inside was tempting! I could not stop buying stuff inside as it was not sell outside or anywhere. From main station, there is a bus so it was so easy to get to the train back to the hotel. If you have kid, bus driver will give your kid a small gift. #shimoda #izu

Once again captivated by the gentle charm of Izu. Having visited Kamakura and Kyushu to see various hydrangeas, this year I was completely conquered by the approximately 3 million hydrangeas in Shimoda Park, Izu. They cover the sky and mountains, reportedly the largest number in Japan! Walking along the paths gently surrounded by hydrangeas, each bloom feels like a delicate poem falling from the sky. Purple, blue, pink, white, the gradient colors weave the most tender love words of summer. 📍Location: Shimoda Park, Izu 🚗Transportation: From Tokyo, take the JR or Shinkansen, estimated 3-4 hours. Walk 15-20 minutes from JR Izukyu-Shimoda Station. 💗Other tips: The entire park is open for free.

Pepe, located in Izu Shimoda, Shizuoka Prefecture, is a nostalgic coffee shop☕️ The shop is compact with a counter and about four tables, but there are many regulars and the customer service was very impressive! I went to Shimoda Park in Izu Shimoda, Shizuoka Prefecture to see the hydrangeas☔️ There are quite a few slopes in the park, but as I climbed up, I found colorful hydrangeas in bloom! There were quite a lot of varieties and a lot to see👏 The hydrangeas are carefully maintained, but I was surprised that admission is free👀 There are three observation decks, and you can look down on the cityscape of Shimoda! In comparison, Shimoda has many hydrangeas spread across a small, wide hill, making it possible to take photos without other people in them. The best time to see hydrangeas is usually around June.
