We really enjoyed our stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton Bristol South - Cadbury House. We booked a B&B basis, and breakfast was excellent.
Room although cosy was very comfortable and had all the facilities we required.
We also chose to have two evening meals at the restaurant and bar, both were excellent. Service was also excellent, special thanks to Emily who was our waitress.
Very lovely hotel and good location for commuters. Price is also reasonable and staff are friendl. The two things I found was not very well explained or covered in the website are
1. car park - you have to pay extra £5 during check in to cover the parking fee Even so, there was no car parking spaces. I would've expect this to be included in the price or documented somewhere so that people know what to expect.
2. There is no WiFi on some part of the hotel. I spoke to staff to ask for wifi access due to poor network around the hotel. I was told the wifi was damaged by thunder. I was gobsmacked, couldn't believe it. I genuinely thought he was joking until he said it happened few weeks ago and still not fixed by BT. So I stayed the whole time with no wifi, I had to walk around to get a good network on my phone to contact people or access my email/ whatsapp.
Although the stay went well, these are key things that play a crucial part of staying in a hotel. Both of these let the hotel down.
Could not fault the actual room, the pub itself and the staff. Room was squeaky clean, even with a cafetiere. Niggles 1) the ”Roberts” radio had a great tone etc, but needs instructions
on how to use it; otherwise as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike! 2) bedside alarm clock was not working... the battery was not properly installed. 3) restaurant opening hours were odd....closed until 8pm? Menu was not inspiring, a little confusing? All in all, a good place to stop-over....although clearly not aiming for the budget-conscious traveller....oh, and the beers were excellent, even with real ale....
We stay at this hotel frequently and know what we are getting every time. I thankfully was able to move to the ground floor on my request face to face. So accommodating and lovely obliging staff. Free Parking is available.
The room is relatively small, next to the supermarkets of LIDL and WAITROSE, with free parking.
There are no toiletries, bottled water, kettles, etc., and even no hair dryers.
The front desk is still very enthusiastic and helpful. The town is very quiet, and the seaside is very British.

LLiz PughWe enjoyed being on the outskirts of Bristol in a historic house in a lovely village. Comfy bed, and small touches - tea, coffee and some milk in the fridge - were helpful. Nick kindly posted on the scarf I had left behind - thank you for that and our comfortable stay.
