Overall the hotel was exceptional. Friendly staff, the restaurants designs are breathtaking, the rooms are cozy and the food is good. The only problem I had is there were mosquitoes in the rooms. All pictures of the hotel are just as in the pictures and more beautiful In person.

This review is for the UNIQUE part of Lopesan Costa Bavaro. My wife and I spent 4 nights in May 2023. We had an amazing time during our stay that was nothing short of amazing. Our butler Victor was amazing and made sure no question went unanswered, no request was too much for him. We spent most of our time in the UNIQUE specific amenities (Restaurant/Bar/Beach/Pool) – the breakfast and lunch buffet very tremendous, the food was great and there was something for everyone. We especially enjoyed the fresh passionfruit at breakfast. The service at the beach was great, rarely did we not have a passionfruit margarita in our hands. The restaurants for dinner (We did the Steakhouse, the French restaurant, the UNIQUE only restaurant and the restaurant where UNIQUE members don’t have to pay extra to eat at) where all really good – the food was always very tasty, the presentation was appealing to the eye and service was friendly and fast. The room was clean, quiet and we always came back to a perfectly made room after our time at the beach. We are looking forward to our next stay!

There are flamingos, good beer, and the female receptionist who checked me in was super friendly. There is a beautiful beach and seaside. There are singing and magic shows in the reception bar at night. Every female waiter I met was very good, warm and friendly. The male waiters ranged from very nice to unfriendly.

I liked everything very much. I am very glad that I chose this hotel. Delicious and varied food. Friendly staff and top notch service. The rooms and grounds are very clean. We don't want to leave

The hotel was fabulous in that it was clean, spacious, modern, and had a calm business vibe. It is set outside of the main Madrid attractions, which is nice for business travelers. If you are traveling to see the sites, you will need to take an Uber/ taxi, which is about 15-20 minutes per traffic and time of day. It's not bad, but not ideal if you want to walk out from your hotel and be in the action. Apart from location, the front desk staff are super friendly and helpful, the hotel has a modern vibe, and has some cool restaurants located around its vicinity. Im a huge fan of AC hotels now because of this beauty we stayed at in Madrid! Although its kinda far from the attractions, I'd still return and stay at this location again and refer it to future travelers!

Even though it was my first time here you can definitely tell that they are going forward and improving. I prioritize good people and friendliness over small details that can be overlooked. It has been a pleasant stay. The customer service provided by the hotel has been satisfactory in general. The all-inclusive offer could be improved from my point of view. And for that price it could have included the transfer. Improvable facilities, especially the gym, which is not suitable for this hotel, is very small and inaccessible, it seems like a maze to enter. And the spa is also very poor and not even included in the offer of the all-inclusive package with a superior room. When in Spain 90% is included both services, transfer and spa. Great hotel, great chain, but my face of satisfaction for some other things remains indifferent for that reason... The variety in the food buffet was not too much either... it is compensated by the customer service and the environment of virgin beaches. Then a detail is the overweight in terms of street vendors outside and inside the enclosure...even with the massages...

Upon arriving at this place, my friend and I were immediately put off by the workers who stared at us instead of offering to help with our luggage—a clear red flag. It only got worse from there. We were shocked to find over fifteen roaches crawling in our beds, on the floor, and even inside our luggage! This was completely unacceptable. The customer service was atrocious. When I brought up our concerns to the receptionist, he had the audacity to suggest we refrain from leaving a review in exchange for unspecified ”privileges.” The bedsheets were stained, the towels were dirty, and the water had a foul odor. It was a nightmare. To add insult to injury, when we voiced our complaints about the roaches, the receptionist brushed us off, claiming we should expect such things in this country. This dismissive attitude was incredibly disrespectful and unprofessional. Thankfully, Starling and Davison from were the only saving grace during our stay—they actually cared and were extremely helpful. In conclusion, I strongly advise against booking with this establishment. The lack of cleanliness, poor customer service, and dismissive attitude towards legitimate complaints made our experience utterly disappointing and frustrating.

Other than our butler which was very nice and helpful after the fact we had to spend an extra 4500$ to upgrade to diamond package everything else was not representative of a 5 star this hotel should not be rated past 3 stars should not cost more than 1500$ per week per person. There seems to be a systematic money saving culture and upcharging tactics at this location to which we were held hostage of. This reflects in the opinions of most except for the short stay customers that probably generate more money for the resort. They also keep the prime rooms aside for short stay customers that spend more over their duration of trip. Barely any shade around the pool and anything more than a chair costs more to sit on and they kick you off asking for money. Pool was under construction and other work being done on infrastructure (grinders etc) lack of fans and proper air conditionning in common areas. NO watersports on the beach all closed. Buffet closed 2 days a week (never saw that before). Rooms were clean but thats about it. Buffet very small and VERY VERY HOT. Blacklisted this one save your money go somewhere else its bareley a 3 star. As for employees, some were great other seemed to be drained and also overwhelmed with the lack of fans and heat in their work areas.

A short but great trip. it was our first time in Cap Cana, and as soon as we walked into TRS the service was absolutely amazing. I am a travel agent, so this was more to promote my experience to my future clients. The welcome drink was amazing, the atmosphere was very modern and chic. Both guest service personnel were great. Stephanie our butler truly went out of her way to make us feel comfortable. The resort is small but just what we were looking for as we have experienced larger resorts, and the service is not the best. Javier the Chef at TRS was also very nice and attentive. Very skillful chef. The food was top of line. My favorite was the ceviche, and the rib steak at the Caribbean restaurant, typical Dominican food which I love. The pool and marina were amazing! Love that they play bachata and Dominican music as we are in DR. Not a beach resort, however always beautiful to see the sunset on the marina. The room was very comfortable with a beautiful view of the marina. We will most definit3ley stay again and for more days. Will definitely recommends! Thank you for the service!

I love the idea of a suite, and this hotel has the best suites with real doors to close off the bedroom so one person can sleep while the other watches TV. There is s mini kitchenette with a small fridge, a sink, and a microwave and coffee maker that makes hot water, too. There was a nice walk in shower in a big bathroom. Housekeeping is hit or miss as it is in all hotels around the country. You have to ask! Breakfast was a treat at the omelet station on the first floor. Now, we'll be looking for Embassy suites whenever we travel.

Based on my experience, I believe several critical areas need immediate attention and improvement: First and foremost, as a Barceló Unique Member, I expect a higher level of recognition, service, and care. I’ve stayed at Barceló hotels more than 12 times worldwide, including multiple times at the Occidental Caribe, and this was by far the worst experience I’ve had. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a massive line at check-in. There were no seats available for my wife and son, and no welcome drinks were offered despite the heat. My wife had to leave the line to get drinks from the bar, which should never happen at a hotel of this caliber. After standing in line for 2.5 hours, I finally received my room key. This is unacceptable for any guest, but particularly for a loyal, high-status member who had made a special request for our anniversary celebration, which was ignored entirely. I requested a room upgrade, as I usually receive at other Barceló locations, but was curtly told no, without explanation. When I mentioned my Unique Member status, the front desk staff responded, “What’s that?” I was in disbelief that they were unfamiliar with their own loyalty program. To make matters worse, I was given one of the furthest rooms (7412) on the 4th floor of the 7th building, despite knowing from previous stays that better rooms were available closer to the main area. Additionally, there were no welcome drinks in the room, something that other Barceló hotels, including the Occidental Caribe, usually provide to loyalty members. The poor service extended to the following day when my son forgot his room key card in the car. I approached the front desk, and an employee named Emeli Fortunato treated me rudely in front of my family. When I requested a new key, she refused unless I paid $23, claiming it was my responsibility. She became argumentative, insisting that I was told this at check-in, which was untrue. I had to tell her to stop arguing and asked to speak to her supervisor. She initially refused, saying she didn’t have one, which I knew was a lie. After much persistence, Juan Vazquez intervened to resolve the situation. The next morning, I met with Manager Alberto to explain the situation. This experience left me feeling unwelcome, and I regret spending my money on this stay. I have always been a loyal Barceló guest, but this was the first time I have ever felt compelled to leave a negative review. That said, I would like to acknowledge and thank CSR Martires, an excellent employee at Barceló. Unfortunately, he was on vacation during our stay, but he returned on our last day and made us feel welcome. When we explained how poorly we had been treated, he apologized and showed the same excellent customer service we’ve received from him in the past. It’s too bad he wasn’t there on the day of check-in, but kudos to Martires for exemplifying the kind of service I’ve come to expect from Barceló. A group of 7 stayed here. There were some great things about this resort and some not so great things. Great Things: The bartenders were all great, especially Angel and Alexis. The buffet restaurant staff, specifically Maria, she is simply the best. The pool area and lobby are both very nice, the nightly entertainment was also a lot of fun. The sand on the beach is fantastic, it’s like sugar and the water is warm but still refreshing, we even saw a few small sea turtles while swimming. The Not So Great: Some of our rooms. We all stayed in the Premium Level Oceanfront, some rooms were better than others. My particular room had a few issues, a very musty odor and a walk in shower with no door that caused the bathroom floor to get covered in water whenever someone showered. We voiced our concern but nothing was ever done. The rooms need to be updated.

Great spot for the well travelled. Very basic accommodations across the street from the beach in an old establishment with large rooms (some with kitchenets), very nice pool in a lush tropical garden. Very clean and well maintained. For approx $50/night with full breakfast included, this is a real steal in Punta Cana. The adjoining restaurant offers a full menu and the best spaghetti bolognaise we've had in a long time ($10). Many other nearby restaurants as well. First room we had had issues with the toilet and AC but was promply replaced. Suggested improvements... A smile costs nothing and can make a world of difference in the perception of service levels. Also glasses in the rooms would be an inexpensive bonus.

Ok. First off I don't know how anyone could give Marcos and Magdelina anything but 5 stars. They are both fluent in Spanish, English and several other languages which made everything very easy. When I wanted to practice on my Spanish Marcos would speak with me in Spanish and when I wanted to speak in English we spoke in English. If you read the other reviews, some people were confused about where they were and reviewed this place in error. I was traveling solo in the Dominican Republic as a single woman and I was slightly worried before arriving, but the second I walked into the garden late at night to check in - all my fears melted away. The family was sitting having a casual conversation with guests and the kids were playing on the ping pong table. They welcomed me like family. The most gracious couple I have ever met. In addition to being met by Marcos and Magdalena I was also met by a friendly dog which made this feel even more like home. As far as my room went, everything was clean, very spacious, had air conditioning in the bedroom, a mini fridge and some snacks and drinks in the minibar. I settled in immediately. I also ate dinner there every night because the food was so amazing! They have four different menus to choose from, including Dominican food, Caribbean and even Polish food. All of which was absolutely delicious. The service was incredible and it was a true experience that I will never forget. I even got to play air hockey with the kiddos! I almost don't want to write this review because I'm afraid I won't be able to get a reservation when I return next year! Now let's address the fact that this is not an all-inclusive resort. This is a small bed and breakfast that is run by a family. They have a recycle mentality and everything they had is reused and repurposed and I love that vibe. If you are one that wants fancy and luxury or no culture, this probably isn't the place for you. If you're a solo traveler that wants to feel like you're part of a family 1000% recommend. I will return to see them many many times. ♥️
