The hotel's location is excellent, offering panoramic views of the entire bay. The hotel shuttle bus is convenient, running twice an hour. Breakfast offers a rich variety, including a flavorful miso soup made with fish bones and kamameshi (rice cooked in a pot). The dining area is spacious, and the staff tries their best to seat guests at tables with good views. It wasn't crowded during meal times either. We had dinner at the hotel both nights of our stay, trying the fish set menu, steak set menu, sashimi, and the splendid alfonsino set menu. All were exceptional, especially the sashimi, which was beautifully presented and incredibly fresh. Paired with local beer, it was a fantastic experience. For guests staying more than one night, if you choose to forgo room cleaning, the hotel provides a 1000 JPY voucher that can be used at the hotel's convenience store. I would definitely choose to stay here again on my next visit to Izu.

A heaven for car lovers, and I'm lucky to be able to visit this place, and also enjoy the drive experience with a top-up. Location is slightly away from everything so you are stranded unless driving (you should be), and you're just minutes from Gotemba with so much choice for food and drinks compared to the hotels choices that were in my opinion limited and costly. Lastly, as the hotel was a part of the museum, it was a bummer that we had to pay to enter the museum despite the high cost of the hotel.

The room window faces the sea. The view from the window is a painting with ever-changing colors. You never get tired of it. The breakfast is also rich and delicious. It is impressive. Although the beach is beautiful, it is a little far from the hotel. There is also a road between them. It feels that it is not privately owned by the hotel, so there are no safety protection facilities. There are no shower and changing facilities. The outdoor swimming pool is only for viewing and cannot be used. I wonder if it will be the same after June.

I had a great stay at this hotel! It’s located just a short walk from the beach, which made it super convenient for relaxing seaside moments. The view from my room was absolutely beautiful — I could see the ocean clearly, especially during sunrise and sunset. The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay. For the location and the view, I think the price was very reasonable. It’s a perfect choice for anyone looking to enjoy a beach getaway without breaking the bank. I would definitely stay here again!

This hotel is perfectly located right by the sea, offering a fantastic environment. Transportation is also quite convenient, with a shuttle bus running between the hotel and Kawazu Station. The breakfast was just okay. If you plan to have dinner, it's definitely best to book in advance. We didn't make a reservation this time and ended up being turned away by both restaurants because they were full. There was nowhere else to eat nearby, so we had to resort to instant noodles.

Waking up to see the Mount Fuji from the room is the highlight. Hot spring is also available in the room. The hotel rooms are spacious and located over the hillside - the most convenient way to commute between buildings are via car/ shuttle bus; walking may take much longer. Lights in the room are a bit too dim to us. Limited amenities are available, with no toothbrush/ toothpaste in room. Futons are available, but self-serve. Access to Laforet and Izu Marriott public hot springs is available. Unfortunately towels are not available in the public bath of Laforet - towels need to brought from hotel room. Standard dinner / breakfast buffets are available.

The facilities are old but clean and there are many restaurants around and free parking and the staff are very friendly. If you go to Sun Valley Iznagaoka (= main building), there is a very large large bath (7 minutes walk, free shuttle is available at any time). The fatigue of the day is completely washed away. Breakfast is also very delicious to go to the main building. I walk when I come and go, so it digests and it's really hard. I'll go back.

The service was very good and the place is amazing. Nevertheless they didn’t allow us to have dinner or breakfast in the hotel as they said it was fully booked, and when requested for late check in we were asked to pay more. It would have been expected to be able to at least check in a bit later since we couldn’t enjoy the dinner or breakfast in the hotel and was inconvenient.

Kanto-Izu Trip in September 2025~ For this Izu trip, we stayed at Atagawakan. After exiting JR Izu-Atagawa Station, I was about to walk to the hotel with my luggage when I saw Atagawakan's shuttle bus pulling up right outside, so I hopped right on. Over the next few days, I noticed the shuttle runs very frequently – I wonder if it's timed with the JR train schedule? It's not actually a long walk, but there are some inclines and declines, which can be a bit tiring. The front desk at Atagawakan always has staff who speak Chinese, making communication very convenient. The overall environment is also excellent, grand and tidy. Although it has the classic layout of an older onsen hotel, it's quite comfortable and cozy. The room was spacious enough, with a balcony directly overlooking the ocean and offering sunrise views. Falling asleep to the sound of the waves at night, I slept wonderfully. I've had a few experiences with Japanese-style rooms in onsen hotels before, and they were usually quite average, and I didn't sleep well. So I was surprised that here, even with the sound of the waves and direct sunlight from the sunrise early in the morning, neither affected my sleep. The hot springs are on the 4th floor. There aren't many baths, but there are both indoor and outdoor options. I went late, so I practically had the whole place to myself every day, which was very comfortable. There are a few restaurants near the hotel, not a huge selection, but the ones I tried had excellent ingredients, and I was very satisfied with all of them. They are definitely worth trying.

HHahuhehuhumaoThere were very few Chinese guests, mostly Japanese families on vacation. We were probably among the rare Chinese guests at this hotel. We chose the Horizon room type, which comes with two private onsen baths. They aren't huge, but they are impeccably clean. Dining was at Ocean, about a 15-minute walk away. The upside is that it's perfect for a leisurely stroll back to your room after dinner to digest your meal. Atami feels like a mini-Chongqing, with very genuine and friendly locals. I'd definitely visit again.

YYiyepianzhouhuajingtaoThis is a very comfortable resort and spa hotel. It has a huge footprint and a typical American hotel style. The rooms are comfortable, and the balconies come with private hot spring baths that are kept at a constant temperature 24/7 with flowing hot water. It's a wonderful blend of Japanese onsen culture – meticulous yet incredibly relaxing – allowing you to enjoy a hot spring experience without even leaving your room. The breakfast is just standard for a five-star hotel, nothing as impressive as what you'd find at a Japanese hotel. The hotel is quite far from Shuzenji Station, but thankfully there's a shuttle bus available at platform 8 of the bus terminal.

GGuest UserBeautiful onsen — our favorite stay in Japan with my family! The traditional breakfast was delicious with a very large selection of dishes. The rooms are gorgeous, quiet, and spacious — and everything was exceptionally clean. The cleaning crew truly does an amazing job. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful, making us feel warmly welcomed. The location is excellent, just a short walk from the train station, and having a washer and dryer available for guests was a big plus. Highly recommended — we would love to stay here again!

GGuest UserIt was a quaint, cozy hotel situated close to JR Atami Station. The hotel has very good food for both dinner and breakfast! The staff are friendly and even though they can't speak good English, they tried their best to communicate to the best of their knowledge and I really appreciate it! I especially enjoyed my time at the onsen on the rooftop, it has good facilities. The only thing is the cleanliness of the room, since there is still water in the kettle from the previous guests, I didn't want to drink any water from the kettle because of it. They should replace it with a new kettle or clean it. Otherwise, the room is also very cozy, they give yukatas for guests to wear them around the hotel and they also offer free transport to JR Atami station. Otherwise, I would have struggled to get around since there is lack of public transportation at Atami! I still have a very good time and enjoyed my time because of the friendly staff at the hotel, they are very helpful! 10/10 will come back again with my friends or family in the future.

GGongchangdelinFacilities: The hotel clearly shows its age, giving off a 'dreamcore' vibe. From the lobby to the room design and style, it felt like stepping back into 80s-90s Japan. The facilities are comprehensive, making it very suitable for families. Cleanliness: Very clean, nothing to fault. Environment: Located on an uphill slope, surrounded by residential areas, it's very quiet. You can also see the ocean horizon from the room, which is beautiful. Service: The service is very Japanese and thorough, they try their best to meet your requests. The front desk staff's English is also good, and they explain the hotel's facilities and restaurants in detail. Food: The buffet at the restaurant is quite good. Summary: A very satisfying stay.
