I was very satisfied with this hotel. The room was quite spacious, and for the price in Japan, it offers great value for money. The main thing is that the stay was very comfortable 👍. The hotel had many European and American tourists coming and going. The location is very close to the Nohi Bus Center and the train station, about a 5-minute walk, so transportation is very convenient. It's also not far from Takayama Old Town, just a leisurely stroll away. There are many good restaurants nearby as well. The Hida beef soba noodle shop next door was particularly delicious. If I go to Takayama again, this hotel will be my top choice.
Blizzard stayed in Takayama. I booked a Japanese-style room with a private bath on the roof of Hoshokaku. The private bath is on the balcony. You can see the city in the distance and the snowflakes falling. I couldn't get a taxi during the blizzard. The previous hotel helped me contact Hoshokaku and provided a free car to pick me up. It was very heartwarming. The hotel has a car to the JR station before 10 o'clock every day. It runs every half an hour. It is very convenient
Excellent location, right by the Takayama train station. Hotel was new with clean facilities, breakfast was really yummy. Room was reasonably sized and clean with a washer dryer. While there was no gym, the onsen facilities at the hotel were spacious and new. Outdoor onsen experience was amazing while looking at the snow outside.
The front desk was kind and polite and the hotel room was beautiful.
There was also a drug store cosmos nearby and a convenience store if you go a little.
I wanted to use it again.
Very good, but the room is a bit old
If the key is missing, you have to pay 5,000 yuan! ! The service is OK, the staff is very friendly
It's a very good hotel there, but a bit expensive and poor value for money
The hotel is extremely clean and conveniently connected directly to JR Gifu Station via a skywalk. The hot spring bath was great, and they even offered popsicles afterwards. In the evening, there's complimentary ramen, which is a fantastic touch. They also provide Yakult in the mornings. Overall, excellent value for money. The Indian lady at the front desk spoke very good English, which made communication easy.
The hot spring water was very nice, and it was great that I didn't have to bring a towel from my room.
There was no TV in the sauna room, and no shelves to put personal items like water and towels, so it would have been nice if there were.
Perhaps because it was a weekday, the bath was empty and I was able to warm up at my own pace.
Perhaps because the breakfast venue was a time-selection area, there was no hassle and I was able to enjoy delicious freshly made sweetfish tempura and homemade curry.
One of the best I have experienced with ryokan staying. I love a small hotel/inn as it is not crowded. This place answers my expectations.
Its location is a bit far off but it is not an issue. It is accessible by public bus from Takayama. Each room has private onsen. It also has 2 outdoor, private onsen on first-come-first-serve basis. There are also public baths for male and female.
Room was in good condition. Bathroom is a bit small for me. Only complaint I would have was foot step noise from the room on upper floor. Very annoyed.
Food was great. I stayed 2 nights, the hotel provided 2 different types of food - appreciated.
Highway recommended.
It was amazing for the price. The spacious open-air bath was also great.
However, the wifi reception was poor and cut out frequently.

AAnonymous UserStayed at Suimekan Gero Onsen and had a wonderful experience.
The staff, especially Adajisan, was incredibly kind, helpful, and gave great recommendations.
The hotel offers 3 different onsen baths, very relaxing and well maintained.
There is also a game area, making the stay fun and enjoyable.
Highly recommended for anyone visiting Gero Onsen!
MMLtravelThe hotel rooms are simple and comfortable! In addition to the hot spring facilities in the hotel itself, it is also connected to the isolated building to provide an additional hot spring option; there are also many activity facilities! The hotel is very close to Magome-juku and Tsumago-juku. After the tour, you can rest and soak in the hot springs in the hotel, which is very convenient! The Hida beef kaiseki cuisine is very rich and delicious! The room price includes breakfast and dinner, which is very cost-effective! The hotel service is very good, and there are English-speaking staff introducing hotel facilities and services, etc.! Kaiseki breakfast and dinner have separate rooms for dining; The restaurant staff will explain each food, and their work attitude is serious and enthusiastic. I like the little boy in the restaurant very much! I will choose to stay again in the future and recommend it to friends in Hong Kong!
GGuest UserThe most satisfying hotel for traveling in Japan, mainly because of the beautiful scenery.
The Japanese-style room I stayed in, one night and two meals, has a strong sense of ritual. There are two hot springs for women, indoor and outdoor. The outdoor one is a sulfur spring. I booked it alone at night, watching the snowflakes and soaking in the hot springs, which was very pleasant.
When the hotel window is opened, you can see the snow-capped mountains behind and hear the sound of the gurgling river, which is very satisfying.
And it is very close to the Shinhotaka Cable Car Station, just outside the door. The cable car in the snow season is worth a ride, especially for southerners, and the scenery is beautiful.
For the entire Takayama Shinhotaka line, I personally feel that if you consider the hot springs and mountain views, this hotel is the right choice, regardless of facilities, location and transportation convenience. Although there are hot springs such as Suimeikan and Fukuchi, their terrain is below, and the scenery is not as good as Shinhotaka.
Of course, if you only want to soak in hot springs, it is another matter.
