This is also a Mitsui Garden Hotel, but unlike the typical 'Japanese' style I usually associate with them, it's much more modern. The public areas are excellent, and the steam room and sauna are definite highlights! They also maintain that modern aesthetic. All the showers are stand-up. The decor and material quality in the rooms and on the guest floors are a bit subpar and overly simplistic. Because the 'base color' is so dark, it tends to show dust bunnies more easily (not necessarily dirty, but it doesn't look good) 😂. The bed, however, is comfortable, and the curtains are great at blocking out light (though it's a shame the windows don't open, I just wanted some fresh air). The TV is high-definition, but its use is limited if you're out all day. The hotel is conveniently located near a bus stop, making it easy to get to attractions like Kiyomizu-dera and Eikan-do. It's actually not far from Shijo and Kyoto Station; on a nice day, you could easily walk, but if it's cold, judge your own stamina. The Gojo subway station entrance, right outside, isn't very friendly for those with large luggage as there's no elevator. Overall, the hotel service deserves a thumbs-up. The front desk staff, both male and female, speak good English and are very friendly and proactive in offering assistance. I noticed a larger number of Western guests during my stay. Just a heads-up: room trash is only collected every two days.

The biggest drawback was the size of the room for the price we paid. We could not even open our suitcases on the floor. There is no water in your room, you have to go downstairs to have a drink of water. Do not have breakfast there, it's too expensive (if you cannot eat everything) . There is a supermarket (LIFE) a few meters away with a very nice bakery. The hotel do however have all the toiletries available next to reception counter. Also coffee in the mornings from 6.30am with water and juice. A sauna and a hot pool, but you have to be in your *************. Not suitable for everyone. I enjoyed our bathroom the most, as the shower was amazing.

Overall a good experience with this hotel. Stayed here for 3 nights. There is a hot spring in hotel level 2. Bed and pillow was comfortable. Room was slightly small but cozy. Worth the price paid for.

Took longer time for the check-in process. I have luggage transfer from Tokyo to the hotel. The claiming luggage processed was not smooth. The staff mislook number on her lists and said it was not our luggage but the tag on the bag exactly shows my name haha. Luckily still got my luggage. Overall the room size is okay, consider spacious. Nearby Kyoto Station 😊.

Traveling with my mom, we chose Hotel Lotus-no-Yu in Kyoto, and it was the most memorable hotel of the trip! It has a very distinct Kyoto charm, is conveniently located very close to Kyoto Station, and the staff are polite and gentle. Since it was close to a holiday, there were a lot of people, which led to some crowding, and we had to queue for breakfast (you can get a number online first and then go down when your number is called). However, the breakfast was very rich. The onsen was very comfortable, and I would definitely choose this hotel again next time I'm in Kyoto; I imagine the experience would be even better if we avoided holidays. The only thing is that you have to take off your shoes at the entrance, and when there are a lot of people, it can get a bit smelly. It would be great if they could do something about the odor. 😂

The service was incredibly attentive, and the hotel boasted a beautiful, authentic Japanese design. The room size was perfect, offering excellent value for money. Although the hotel had a Japanese onsen, my trip was a bit rushed, so I didn't get a chance to experience it. I would definitely choose this hotel again on my next visit to Kyoto.

The room wasn't very big, and it definitely wasn't the 32.4 square meters I booked. When I talked to the front desk, they just said it was the largest room they had. With a double bed and a sofa bed, there was very little floor space left. I contacted Trip.com customer service, but the hotel still insisted it was 32.4 square meters. There was nothing more I could do, as I had several meetings there for a few days, so I just made do. The hotel environment itself is quite nice, with a Wabi-sabi aesthetic, and the surrounding streets are very quiet. Not too far away, there's a bustling commercial street, making it a peaceful spot amidst the lively area. The restaurant has a beautiful ambiance. Many thanks to Trip.com customer service for their active help in trying to resolve the issue.

We like the quiet streets along the hotel. The free shuttle service to Kyoto station was convenient but taking the train wasn’t difficult too. We could walk all the way from Gion to the hotel about 20 min walk. Have many nice restaurants around the area. Will definitely stay here again. Love their matcha gaufrette and coffee.

A very satisfactory choice. Travel with parents and stayed four nights and royal park. Located near to subway kalasuma station, a good choice to explore Kyoto. Room is spacious compared to most of hotels in Kyoto, also is clean and quiet. Impressed by the breakfast where you can choose set menu between Japanese and American styles. Delicate dishes. It has a lounge where you can enjoy afternoon teas and happy hour. The public bath is a must go-to place after a long way during the day.

Overall a very positive experience. Room was spacious, comfortable and clean. The hotel assisted in my additional request perfectly and made us have a very warm and enjoyable stay. The breakfast buffet also had a good range of foods to choose from including western menu choices and some Japanese choices as well. I would love to come back!

IiamnotdelicateThe basic room type isn't in the main building; you have to walk up to the main building each time to have breakfast or soak in the onsen (hot spring). And it's not a real onsen; my friend's superior room was the real onsen. We were given a small room at the back of the hotel, but thankfully there weren't too many graves. When I asked the staff at the entrance to take photos for me, they were very reluctant and had a sour face. At night, on my way back to my room from my friend's, the receptionist on duty in the lobby was also very rude. Overall, I was dissatisfied with the service. The facilities are excellent, very new, and the hotel is quite small, but that's typical for Japanese hotels. The decor is also very nice; the aesthetics are on point. There are at least three cemeteries and a bunch of shrines nearby; bring some amulets if you like.

GGuest UserThe hotel is incredibly close to Kyoto Station, with Exit 5 offering the most convenient access. The room was very quiet and cleaned daily. While disposable toiletries are not provided, there are plenty of USB charging ports. It's also very near Isetan and Yodobashi Camera. Getting to the airport, though it involves passing through Kyoto Station, is also very convenient.

GGuest UserOnline hotel bookings can often feel like a blind box draw, but Dusit Thani was definitely the right pick. Every staff member I encountered had an excellent attitude, the room was spotless, and even though the turndown service only provided a bottle of water, it was a pleasant and thoughtful touch. Thai brands truly excel in their service consciousness and aesthetic sense. The room itself was incredibly comfortable, and with no other guests in the public lobby areas, I thoroughly enjoyed the bliss of reading a book alone.

GGuest UserThe room size was barely adequate. The idea of having a separate vanity, shower, and toilet was good in theory, but the design was flawed, making it very inconvenient to place toiletries. The floor had a strange odor—neither pleasant nor foul—I couldn't tell if it was from floor polish or something else. I initially thought it was the smell from my own feet after a long day of walking. The hotel claims to be eco-friendly, so many toiletries weren't provided, likely because there simply wasn't enough space. The service was mediocre; they didn't even replenish the bottled water when cleaning the room on the second day. After visiting several cities, I've come to realize that it's better to choose established hotels for good service and experience. Design-oriented hotels often look good but aren't practical. The biggest advantage of this hotel is its excellent location with convenient transportation access. Shopping is extremely convenient, with Takashimaya right next door and plenty of other places to shop and many restaurants. Of course, the foot traffic is enormous, and the street can be noisy at night, so those with light sleep should think twice before booking.

GGuest UserThe price doubles and goes up. I have stayed in this hotel many times. It always feels good. I came here again after many years and felt that the overall service and the quality of the food in the hotel were much worse. In particular, the service may be understaffed during the peak season, but it is indeed a very good hotel. Be sure not to make any mistakes when booking a hotel, otherwise he will be unkind and only care about money!

QQiangqiangmiaoGiven its non-cancellable policy, I hesitated for a long time when planning my trip, but ultimately decided to spend our last two nights here. We loved our stay so much, we didn't want to leave – I really should have booked it for our entire stay from the beginning! Despite the lack of an onsen (hot spring), the bedding was incredibly comfortable. After a tiring day of sightseeing, sleeping felt like floating on clouds, which was pure bliss. The photos really don't capture all the details. The bathroom was quite spacious, and all facilities were impeccably maintained. I didn't have high expectations for breakfast, which included options like stir-fried fresh mushrooms, Japanese chazuke, and Western-style dishes. However, the quality and flavor were undeniably excellent! They offered salmon sashimi, various other fish, bacon, ham, stir-fried mushrooms, and stir-fried chicken. For drinks, there was a good selection of fruit juices, and the fruits included grapefruit, grapes, bananas, and pineapples. The location is incredibly convenient. Keihan Sanjo Station and a bus stop are merely 80 meters away. We were able to walk to various attractions like museums, Ninen-zaka, Sannen-zaka, and Takashimaya. Getting to areas like Arashiyama by subway was also very quick. It was surprisingly quiet during the day. At night, just across the road, the bars along the Kamo River were bustling with activity. Yet, we experienced absolutely no noise in our room at night. The staff were exceptionally warm and friendly. When we first arrived, we struggled to find the entrance and ended up at the back door. By chance, we encountered a staff member just starting their shift, who personally escorted us to the front desk. Later, the front desk staff also personally guided us to the mother-and-baby room on the basement floor. These small details truly demonstrated the high quality of their service.

MMy WanderlistI had an excellent stay at Fauchon. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm hospitality. The hotel staff were also incredibly attentive and polite throughout our stay. My room was small but comfortable, featuring modern and luxurious amenities that were stylishly pink in colour and comfortable bedding. The attention to detail in the room was impressive, with thoughtful touches including a whole array of complimentary cookies and cake. Breakfast was served as a set menu and selection was limited and basic but expertly prepared and presented. The hotel's location was also perfect for me because it is situated right in the heart of Kyoto yet away from the crowded spots with excellent access to public transportation. The bus station is right in front of the hotel, the nearest train station is about 10 mins walk and the hotel is approx 15 mins walk to Kawaramachi Street (shopping area). Just behind our hotel is the river and all the restaurants. Our room has the mountain view.
