The hotel is well maintained and the reception was very helpful with our situation due to flight cancellation. Especially Silvester from the restaurant, he was very kind to accommodate our needs.
We had a pleasant experience and would like to stay again next time.
Very happy to report that this hotel / location rated highly with us. The hotel itself is clean, modern and quiet considering its location to the airport. Room was spacious, and d beds comfy. The parking is great as the hotel makes use of the shopping centre carpark (no fee) overnight. The location is awesome for shopping and dining. Overall it ticks all the boxes for travellers.
I have been eyeing this resort for a long time and finally had the chance to visit. A resort of about 3,000 acres, surrounded by snow-capped mountains, with pleasant scenery and Japanese and Western-style architecture. There are large golf courses, which are worth visiting if you want to relax. It would be great if there is Chinese food service.
We chose this hotel because we expected to enjoy its winery/food. Otherwise, we should have stayed in Queenstown with a lot of restaurants and pubs.
As we would arrive in the early evening, we put a note for our hope for experiencing their winery and food (or at least finger foods) when we booked the hotel, and received email that they cannot guarantee but will do their best to serve our need. Since then, no email was sent to us. When we arrived at the hotel around 6 pm, no one was in the information desk, so we had to go to the bistro to find out that they left the key in a safe box without any notice or sending us any email with its password. We had to wait a while for the bistro lady to make a phone call to whom it concerns, which was okay. Worse, we heard that their bistro was reserved for a group event so we could not use the facility at all. We had to drive 15 minutes to a nearby town and bought foods from a supermarket. I think the hotel should have notified us of impossibility of using their bistro/food service due to the group event and we have to prepare for our food. As I checked out, I left a note about the issues, and expected they would send me an email to express their sincere apology. Unfortunately nothing happened so far. Although I liked the room as well as the whole place very much, I think Kinross cottage needs professionalism to run their stay program. It could have been much nicer, memorable stay experience.
Location: The hotel is located close to the Queenstown airport but approximately 15 mins away from Queenstown itself.
Parking: There is no parking bays at the Hilton (only valet) itself but it shares with Doubletree which is limited. Due to some maintenance work, level P2 was closed off and had to park in a reserved slot for the night. Cost of parking is NZ$ 16 per night.
Rooms: This is where my issue lies, the room temp is centrally managed and it was freezing at night especially with the floor to ceiling windows. Had to go to the front desk for portable heater and extra blankets on the 1st night. Bathroom is non-heated (with tiled floors) so extra cold in there. In most places we stayed in NZ, the bathrooms had heated lamps overhead for comfort. I requested the accessible room for mom and it was provided as requested although the location of the room was on one end of the building which is a distance to walk.
Food: Breakfast was a good selection and ran from 630 to 1030am.
This hotel is a fantastic choice if you're not renting a car. The location is unbeatable, right on Queenstown Bay. Everything is within easy walking distance: boat departures, the gondola, town shopping, a 24-hour convenience store, and nearby bars. It's perfect for those who like to break up their day; you can explore in the morning, pop back to the hotel for a rest, and then head out again in the afternoon. Five stars for the location! However, the bed was too soft and the room was small. While the lobby was nice, the room itself was pretty standard.
Parking is really difficult in Queenstown. You must choose a hotel that is close to the city and has parking, and then walk to the streets. This hotel has 3 floors and no elevator. The conditions are good, the facilities are complete, and it has a small balcony. You can't hear the noise from the road. The front desk closes at 6 o'clock, and guests need to enter and exit from the garage entrance.
Stayed here for 3 nights. Room is clean and we got beautiful view of the lake while having breakfast even though the view was slightly obstructed due to ongoing construction. Location is slightly inconvenient if you do not have a rental car because it is difficult to walk uphill back from town.
Parking is convenient and the room is not bad. The front desk is a little beauty from Harbin. The conversion plug we brought was forgotten in the last hotel and borrowed the conversion plug from the front desk. Thank you very much.
It was beyond my expectation. It was so beautiful. It faced the huge lake in Queenstown. The facilities were very good, including dishwasher, washing machine, bathroom, bedding, and the view. Most importantly, the price was much better than those hotels with direct beach access.

AAylwinDDoubletree was a last minute decision upon arriving Queenstown from Mt Cook. Although it is pricey, no regrets getting a room here for 2 nights. It came with a fully furnished kitchenette where you could do some cooking but didn't utilize this since we ate out. One peeve I don't understand is the need to pay for parking since onsite (NZD$ 16 per nite). There's ample parking and for guests that drive in, this should be complimentary for stay duration.
Location is outside of Queenstown but water taxi available from hotel dock. Recommend for the environment and fantastic room but giving 3 stars for facilities due to need to pay for parking.
Location by the lake allows peace and quiet and also wildlife encounters. Front desk staff during checkin time was very attentive and helpful as well.

LLeigh PanganI had a lovely stay at Ora Retreat! Cabin was already warm when I got there (late night check in), literally a warm welcome! I got to meet their cutest dog Dusky as well 🫶
GGuest UserI was shocked downstairs and thought it was a residential building, but when I came in, I was suddenly enlightened. There are not a few rooms in the hotel, very boutique. The interior decoration is the common standard of domestic high-end hotels, not amazing, but the view from the terrace is amazing, Jacuzzi is a plus
