The Yecheng Ruins are located in Linzhang County, Handan City, Hebei Province. Historically, the ruins of the capitals of Cao Wei, Hou Zhao, Ran Wei, Qian Yan, Eastern Wei and Northern Qi are composed of two cities, north and south. Yebei City was the capital of the state built by Cao Cao in the ninth year of Jian'an (204). Later Zhao, the Eastern Wei Dynasty, and the Northern Qi Dynasty successively all capitalized on Ye. In the first year of Chengguang (577), the Northern Qi Dynasty fell, and the city declined. Yenan City was built against the southern wall of Yebei City in the first year of Yuanxiang in the Eastern Wei Dynasty (538) and was destroyed in the Sui Dynasty. Yecheng is a city with clear functional divisions and rigorous structure, which embodies the urban construction concept of "planning first, construction later". The unique position of the Yecheng ruins in the history of Chinese urban development has always been one of the concerns of Chinese and foreign historical circles. The ruins of Yecheng are a sample of the construction of ancient capitals in East Asia, and have far-reaching influence on the construction of ancient cities such as Chang'an and Luoyang in China and the construction of ancient capitals in East Asian countries such as Japan and South Korea. In January 2012, the archaeological team of Yecheng discovered a buried pit of Buddha statues near the city wall of Yecheng, Beiwuzhuang, Linzhang County, and unearthed 2,895 stone statues and remnants of the Eastern Wei Dynasty and Northern Qi Dynasty. The new Yinxu Museum officially opened on February 26, 2024. In terms of architectural design, following a global competition, the design by Academician He Jingtang from South China University of Technology was selected. Inspired by the "Shang Hymns" from the Book of Songs, the design features elements such as green wild grass platforms, a grand earth structure, layered depth, and bronze cladding. It emphasizes a green, low-carbon, and sustainable development model, creating a "model of China, a temple of civilization" with cultural connotations and archaeological significance related to the Yin Ruins. Regarding the exhibition layout, the museum focuses on the theme of "The Great Shang Civilization," featuring three permanent exhibitions, four special exhibitions, and one unique immersive digital exhibition. These exhibitions explore various aspects such as Shang Dynasty history, oracle bone studies, archaeological history, and the global influence of Shang civilization. They comprehensively illustrate the flourishing urban civilization, sophisticated ritual and music culture, advanced bronze civilization, brilliant written language, and superior craftsmanship of the Shang Dynasty, vividly presenting its significant role and impact on Chinese civilization and the development of human civilization. In terms of design style, the museum adheres to a solemn and grand aesthetic, extensively utilizing artificial intelligence, multimedia, and other digital technologies. This approach provides new contemporary expressions for artifacts, documents, and oracle bone inscriptions, enhancing the breadth, depth, and precision of the panoramic presentation of Shang civilization. It creates an interactive space between artifacts, history, and digital virtual environments.Anyang · 35.2 km from Linzhang

Yin Xu is the ruins of the late Shang Dynasty capital in China, the first historically confirmed capital city, located in Yindu District, Anyang. A large number of cultural relics with precious historical value have been unearthed at Yin Xu, including bronze ware and oracle bone inscriptions. Among them, the 875 kg "Simuwu rectangular ding" is a treasured bronze artifact, while the oracle bone inscriptions represent ancient Chinese writing and the precursor to Chinese characters. Their discovery altered China's archaeological chronology, pushing the credible recorded history of China back to the Shang Dynasty. The Yin Xu royal tomb site within the attraction is academically recognized as the royal burial ground and sacrificial site of the Shang dynasty. The palace area has yielded a large quantity of oracle bones, bronze artifacts, including the famous "Simuwu rectangular ding." Thirteen royal tombs, over 2,000 burial pits, sacrificial pits, and chariot pits have been discovered here. The eastern section of the royal tomb site features numerous sacrificial pits containing human (sacrificial victims) and animal skeletons, serving as a public sacrificial ground for the Shang royal family to honor their ancestors. The Yin Xu palace and temple complex site served as the venue for Shang kings to handle state affairs and reside, representing the most significant ruins and component of Yin Xu, encompassing over 80 architectural foundations including palaces and temples. To the west and south of the palace and temple complex lies a manually excavated defensive moat encircling the structures, functioning similarly to a palace city. The temple complex is also recognized as one of the renowned "classical city-states" among ancient civilizations worldwide. Within the palace and temple ruins area lies the tomb of Fu Hao, the consort of King Wu Ding of the Shang dynasty. This is the only well-preserved tomb of a Shang royal family member discovered to date, and the only one that can be linked to oracle bone inscriptions to confirm its age, owner, and identity. The tomb chamber contained 16 sacrificial victims and yielded over a thousand artifacts, including bone objects, jade pieces, and bronze vessels. In the eastern part of the attraction, there is also an "Oracle bone stele forest" that displays a large number of oracle bone inscriptions in the form of stone carvings. Visitors who are interested can go and take a look.Anyang · 35.6 km from Linzhang

The Tongque Santai Site Park was announced as the third batch of national key protection units in 1988. The architectural style of Yecheng, such as the central axis symmetry, single palace city and reasonable zoning, is a model of Chinese capital architecture. The Jinfengtai, Tongquetai and Bingjingtai built during the Cao Wei period are the peak of ancient Chinese terraced architecture. The site park currently has Jinfengtai Site, Tongquetai Site, Cao Cao Statue, Wenchang Pavilion, Zhuanjun Cave, Stele Gallery, Jian'an Style Hall, Yecheng Site and Santai Model Display, Cultural Relics Exhibition Hall and other attractions. The park has been successively rated as the "Cultural Characteristics Scenic Spot" and the "Investment Value Tourist Attraction" of the 2012 Asian Golden Travel Award. The Yecheng Site is located in the southwest of Linzhang County, covering an area of about 20 square kilometers, and has a history of nearly 2,700 years. From the Spring and Autumn Period when Duke Huan of Qi began to build Yecheng to the Northern Zhou Dynasty when it was burned down, the city had a history of more than 1,200 years. During this period, it was successively the capital of the Six Dynasties of Cao Wei, Later Zhao, Ran Wei, Former Yan, Eastern Wei, and Northern Qi. As the political, economic, military, and cultural center of the Yellow River Basin for four centuries, it is known as the "Three Kingdoms and the Ancient Capital of the Six Dynasties". The Bronze Sparrow Terrace Site Park is located in the northwest corner of Cao Wei Yecheng, and Santai Village in Linzhang County got its name from this. The Jinfeng Terrace, Bronze Sparrow Terrace, and Bingjing Terrace built during the Cao Wei period were the peak of ancient Chinese terrace-style architecture, and were also important places for banquets and literary activities for Jian'an poets represented by the Three Caos and the Seven Sons at that time; it is said that Cao Cao met with the female poet Cai Wenji from the late Han Dynasty who returned from the Xiongnu here. Due to frequent wars and the flooding of the Zhang River in history, the existing Jinfeng Terrace on the surface of the Santai is 12 meters high and 122 meters long from the south. The southeast corner of the Bronze Sparrow Terrace still has a height of about five meters, while the Bingjing Terrace has been completely washed away by the Zhang River. The site park currently has the Jinfeng Terrace site, the Bronze Sparrow Terrace site, the Cao Cao statue, the Wenchang Pavilion, the Cao Cao transfer cave, the stele corridor, the Jian'an Seven Masters Hall, the Yecheng site, the Santai model display, and the cultural relics display hall.Linzhang · 20.2 km from downtown

I enjoyed a fantastic trip on the first day of National Day, off-peak, during the holiday season! It was my first time at a Fantawild theme park, and I expected it to be just like any other domestic park. I was surprised by how captivating and engaging the show was, showcasing the Chinese culture to its fullest! Nuwa mends the sky, The Cowherd and the Weaver Girl, The Charm of the Nine Provinces, The Yellow Millet Dream, Meng Jiangnu, and Crazy Idioms—all excellent shows! Highly recommended! Fantawild National Colors Spring and Autumn was a truly worthwhile experience!

The group was formed at the last minute, and we were fortunate to meet Professor Ruan. With his solid foundation in history and literature, he eloquently recounted the stories behind the Shang Dynasty, oracle bone inscriptions, and bronzes, without resorting to rigid scripts. He made complex history vivid and easy to understand. His pacing was perfect, and he patiently answered our questions, bringing warmth to the otherwise cold artifacts. Following his explanations, we were immersed in the charm of the Shang civilization from three thousand years ago. The trip was incredibly rewarding and well worth it. Highly recommended!

The hometown of Tai Chi has well-preserved ancient city walls and many performance programs, but it is still quite commercialized. During the National Day holiday, there are a lot of tourists, especially at night, which causes serious traffic jams.

I bought a package ticket, which includes four parts of the museum: the Yin Ruins Museum, the Yin Ruins Site (including the Tomb of Fu Hao), the Tombs of the Shang Dynasty Emperors, and the Cao Cao Mausoleum. There are shuttle buses between these sites, which are free with the package ticket; otherwise, you need to pay. Since I was driving, I navigated there myself.

On a spring morning, I stepped into Congtai Park in Handan. Climbing the stone steps to Wuling Congtai, the green bricks and gray tiles gleamed softly in the warm sun, and the statue of King Wuling of Zhao, dressed in nomadic attire and riding an cavalry, seemed to still be fluttering in the wind. Turning around and looking down, the lake was like a mirror, and the hexagonal eaves of Wangzhu Pavilion peeked out from the water like an ancient green seal. I passed through the Temple of the Seven Sages, where, nestled among pines and cypresses, the statues of Lian Po and Lin Xiangru stood silently facing each other, evoking the noble sentiment of "bearing thorns to apologize." Willow branches swayed gently by the lake, and the fragrance of lotus blossoms wafted through the air. Elderly people practiced Tai Chi, and children fed koi fish; history and daily life clasped hands here. Climbing to the ruins of the ancient city wall, the buildings of Handan and the distant mountains came into view, and time and space seemed to overlap. Before leaving the park, the setting sun gilded Congtai with a layer of gold. I looked back, and the sound of war drums seemed to echo in my ears, my heart filled with a thousand-year-old heroic spirit.

If you're going on a road trip to Handan, you absolutely must visit this place. Unlike other grotto sites that are packed with people, this place is less crowded and parking is very convenient. Although there aren't many grottoes, each one is breathtaking.

It's a bit unbelievable that such a beautiful Jiangnan garden wasn't rated! The actors' performances were very energetic and professional, but their interaction with the audience was lacking; silence would have been more effective! The consideration for the elderly and disabled was not comprehensive enough; these groups could only admire the scenery from afar in most situations. Hopefully, this can be improved!
