Facilities: A bit old-fashioned but very clean and well-maintained.
Cleanliness: Very clean, even cleaner than Mitsui.
Environment: Having a balcony is amazing! The air is fresh, the scenery is unbeatable, and taking a walk by the lake during the day is simply blissful.
Service: The staff are mostly Japanese and don't speak English, but check-out was super fast and the shuttle bus was very punctual.
I hope to have the opportunity to return to this hotel again in the future. It has a large room, a balcony, is very quiet with few people, and the environment is exceptionally beautiful.
Biwako Ryokusuitei was an absolute treat. We had a bit of a wobble at Ogoto-Onsen station as I couldn't find a phone, but luckily we spotted the hotel shuttle. The driver was lovely and made us feel welcome right from the off.
The reception staff were brilliant, really friendly and gave us a proper run-through of the place. Housekeeping was spot on too they were right on the ball and had our tatami mats all ready for us while we were away at dinner.
The real stars, though, were the dining staff. They were incredibly professional and took the time to explain exactly what we were eating and how to enjoy each dish. Both breakfast and dinner were top-notch 😋I'm still thinking about that food now! A proper (home away from home) experience
The American atmosphere spread across the whole hotel with the help of design. It was quite classic. The room setting is a bit too liberal. The bathroom and toilet are in see-through form. The hotel, by the way, is conveniently located by the train station and the discounted parkings are right next to the hotel .
The room view is wonderful and quiet. Free shuttle bus between Ogotoonsen and hotel, it takes abt 5’min ride time, very good.
The hotel restaurant staff are friendly and polite. We stayed 3n and the food menu were changed daily, very impressive.
The indoor and outdoor onsen are perfect and relaxing.
I will recommend others go there, very good experience.
Very good location, close to Shiga station. Many eateries nearby. Walking distance to Hikone castle. Friendly staff with good English. The only downfall is that the layout of the room is rather cramped, so if you have more than 1 big luggage it might be a bit difficult to pack and unpack.
the best hotel i stay in for this 2 weeks japan trip. thumbs up for the staff attention and service.
key features
1 shuttle bus service from train station
2 big room facing lake
3 very good breakfast
4 good location, quiet yet within vicinity of supermarket and good restaurant
The location of the hotel is fantastic, right in front of the lake with breathtaking views. The room was spacious and the water pressure in the shower was excellent. The hotel is very bike-friendly and the staff were incredibly helpful. I would highly recommend this place for a short stay.
The Japanese breakfast was good, but it was a little on the boring side. It could benefit from a bit more variety to make it more interesting.
It was a great stay at this ryokan! The hotel is able to arrange a car to fetch you from the JR station. You can call them using a dedicated phone at the station which is used to contact the different ryokans. The car arrived in 10mins or so. The ride to the ryokan was also less than 10mins. The hotel also fetched us to the station on the last day of our stay.
The ryokan itself is homely and cozy. We were greeted by an english speaking staff who introduced us to the amenities of the ryokan. There was also a nice welcome tea and matcha chocolate. Our bags were brought to our room as well during this time.
The room is spacious and cozy. The hotel prepared 2 welcome biscuits in the room which was a nice personal touch. The room has a nice living room and a great view of Lake Biwa. Recommend to catch the sunrise over the lake! There are 2 normal beds as well as futon beds (need to set up yourself). Both are comfortable. The hotel also prepared pretty yukata for both female and male guests which you can wear during the stay. There are 4 different designs for ladies, and one design for the guys. You can request for different size if the one in the room doesn’t fit you. There is also a full length mirror and a mini dressing area at the side of the living room. It was fun dressing up in the yukata!
The toilet, basin, shower and hot tub areas are all separate. The toilet is a little small, but the basin and mirror area is very spacious. The shower area is quite small as well and the shower head is rather low so you need to hold the shower head if you wish to wash up while standing. There is a small stool given for you to sit down though. The hot tub area is semi-outdoor and you can see Lake Biwa. But it is quite small (only good for one person). It was too cold so we didn’t use the hot tub.
Instead, we booked the private onsen for 50mins. The private onsen has a private toilet and dressing area which is equipped with hairdryer, body lotion etc. There is a water dispenser as well if you need to hydrate yourself. The onsen area has a washing area, and the hot tub area is spacious for 2 person. There are privacy screens around the onsen area but there is a small gap to let in cold air for ventilation. Wish there is a good view from the private onsen but it was still enjoyable!
Dinner and breakfast was Kaiseki style, and the meals were one of the highlights for my husband and I. We really enjoyed the courses which are clean tasting yet wholesome, fresh and flavourful. It was such a sumptuous treat!
The ryokan also has a souvenir shop if you wish to buy anything back.
Overall, my husband and I really enjoyed the stay here and we agreed this was one of the main highlights of our 12 days trip in Japan. Highly recommend!
Biwako Although it was in front and there was nothing around, it was a little inconvenient, but I think it would be okay for those who don't care!!
The staff were friendly and clean when I first walked in!!
The room was single, but it wasn't uncomfortable for two people to stay in.
The view of Biwako from the window was also nice!!
There was a large bath on the 7th floor, but I was a little disappointed..ㅠㅠ I couldn't use the sauna, and there was so much mold on the ceiling that it didn't feel good to wash...ㅠㅠ There was just one bath and one outside... The bath wasn't big.
One thing I really liked was the breakfast!!!! Among the hotels I've been to, I was able to enjoy the most diverse food and Shiga specialties!! And it was so nice to be able to eat while looking at Biwako outside the window!!!
It was just an ordinary hotel, but the breakfast was satisfying!!
Well, for the price... it's a really good hostel.
The communal bath is large and the private showers are well-equipped. (I'm giving it a high rating for not having a communal shower.)
However, it might be a bit crowded.
The location is nearly impossible to get around without a car or bike.
I wonder if people in their 20s would find it easy to get around. I'm not sure about people in their 30s...
Even the desk staff aren't Japanese. It's incredibly global.
I thought I was in Europe.
Very Good

与与马轻舞Pure Japanese-style hot spring hotel. There are not many Chinese here. Almost all Japanese come here to travel. The hotel has a little brother from Taiwan who speaks Chinese very well. The ultimate Japanese service is experienced here. The 4G used this time Internet card, unable to contact the hotel, we had to find Ctrip's customer service to help contact the hotel. At first I was very embarrassed. I didn't expect Ctrip to do such a good job in a foreign hotel. In a foreign country, at the JR station entrance, I saw the hotel staff to pick up the car, and I was in a great mood!
