The room was spacious and clean, and the lake view from our room was delightful. The overall environment was excellent. The hotel breakfast was delicious, offering a wide variety of choices and great service. The Korean restaurant was also very good. I'll definitely try the Chinese restaurant on my next visit.

Impeccable service and beautiful rooms with good views. The rooms were well lit and had all the amenities - ironing board, hairdryer etc. Bed was also comfortable, clean and well kept. The breakfast had a good spread and the food served at their restaurant was also very good. It was also convenient, connected to the shopping centre. Would definitely stay here again when I visit Yangon.

This hotel was great! I really loved the room, and I'd definitely stay here again next time. The breakfast spread was fantastic, and the pool was nice too, you know? But the main thing for me was how much value for money the room offered. I really appreciate that.

Fantastic hotel! The staff is very nice, helpful and knowledgable. The room was perfect as well as the facilites (lounge, pool and gym). Breakfast is super good (don't book without it), includint all westerner and a wide range of Asian food all over the continent. The hotel building also has a shopping mall with a big supermarket inside. It is also facing the beautiful Kandawgy Lake. I'll stay here every time I visit Yangon! šŸ˜šŸ‡²šŸ‡²

Review: The Governor’s Residence, Yangon The Governor’s Residence remains one of Yangon’s most atmospheric and elegant hotels, combining colonial charm with modern comfort. Nestled in a quiet embassy district, the restored teak mansion, once the home of a British colonial governor, immediately impresses with its graceful architecture and tranquil gardens. Approaching through leafy pathways and lotus ponds, guests are welcomed into an oasis that feels far removed from the bustle of downtown Yangon. Rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated, featuring polished teak floors, four-poster beds, and traditional Burmese textiles that reflect the building’s heritage. Balconies overlook either the lush gardens or the inviting fan-shaped swimming pool, creating a sense of calm retreat. The service is consistently warm, professional, and attentive without being intrusive, with staff eager to share local knowledge and assist with arrangements. Dining is a highlight. The open-air restaurant offers refined Burmese and international dishes, prepared with fresh ingredients and presented with flair. Breakfast under the wide verandas, with tropical birdsong in the background, is especially memorable. Afternoon cocktails by the pool or an evening meal by candlelight evoke the romantic grandeur of a bygone era. What sets the Governor’s Residence apart is its atmosphere: it is not simply a hotel but a living reminder of Yangon’s colonial past, reimagined with comfort and grace. Whether visiting on business or leisure, guests leave with a sense of serenity and timeless elegance. For those seeking a blend of history, luxury, and authentic Burmese hospitality, this residence is an exceptional choice.

It's quite good, with a very high cost performance. Although the hotel is closed, the service is still meticulous and the staff are very friendly. If it weren't for the last minute, I would stay a few more days. The restaurant is also very cost-effective and the food is also very good. There is also a convenience store at the door of the hotel, but it's a bit congested to get a taxi.

Location of the property is opposite to Myanmar Plaza shopping mall. It would be great if the size gate of the property could open for guests to walk a shorter distance to the mall. Service staffs were very friendly, especially Lenna who was very efficient during the check-out process and responded professionally to queries. Breakfast at D’Cusine was average needs improvement. There is also a Japanese Restaurant and a Korean restaurant for dining within the property. Swimming pool is excellent especially for family with kids. Club at basement played good music. Take note of age group and dress code requirements. Overall highly satisfied with the stay at this property.

I came to test out this hotel for a future vacation. It is the most expensive luxurious hotel in the country. I can swear by that. Youre greeted by a welcome drink the minute you enter. I really enjoyed my stay here as there is a personal butler on call 24/7 and she brings bright smiles and complimentary tea and coffees. I was served by khoon and thae thae whom were both very professional and attentive. It was my first experience with a butler. Definitely a memorable one. The suites are massive and though you can’t expect pristine cleanliness due to the buildings age, i did not notice any dirt anywhere except for the outside of the windows.

After nearly a decade away, I finally found myself back at this hotel—and what a welcome return it was. From the moment I stepped into the lobby until the moment I reluctantly rolled my suitcase out for the airport, the experience was nearly flawless (with just one teensy quibble—I’ll get to that in a bit). Check-in was smooth as silk, made even sweeter by the offering of fresh watermelon juice. A delightful touch! I did encounter a minor hiccup with my luggage—it took a while to reach my room, and I had to ring the concierge to investigate its whereabouts. But the porter was so genuinely apologetic, I almost wanted to apologize for bothering him. Guilt level: Catholic nun. Now, onto the room. It was wonderfully spacious, and while the decor still whispered ā€œvintage business trip,ā€ it was undeniably comfortable. In a world of modern hotels where rooms are the size of a generous walk-in closet and the lighting feels like a moody art installation, Parkroyal proudly remembers what hotels are supposed to be: roomy and restful. Would I have loved a USB charging port near the bed? Yes. Did I survive without it? Also yes. The one area that could use some serious love was the bathroom—more specifically, the shower bathtub combo. The tub had some visible mould on the floor, the shower head had a bizarre crush on the wall (refusing to face the actual human in the tub), and the toilet flush was positioned so low I wondered if it was designed by a committee of hobbits. Tall guests or elderly folks may need a bit of acrobatics to reach it. That said, the rest of the bathroom was perfectly functional. My room faced the swimming pool, which looked inviting, though I skipped it in favor of the gym—and what a gem it was. Not only did it feature the usual suspects (treadmills, dumbbells, etc.), but it also boasted a yoga area, TRX setup, rowing machine, and even a vertical climber. It felt more like a premium fitness club than a hotel gym. Breakfast deserves a standing ovation. A buffet that goes beyond the usual suspects, offering everything from local delights to Western staples, plus Japanese, Korean, Indian, and Chinese options. I may or may not have returned for seconds. And thirds. In short: would I come back? Absolutely. It’s a comforting mix of old-school hospitality with just enough modern touches. A charming classic that knows what really matters.

IIsfp-Solo TravelerThe staff were very accommodating, from the receptionists to housekeepingšŸ’™ I stayed here for only one day as I extended my trip by a day. Don’t expect too much from the amenities, as the hotel is half the price of others with similar facilities—which is why it’s a good option😊 The breakfast buffet had limited options but was still decent —- They have a section where you can ask a staff member to cook an egg/omelet for you, but I didn’t explore the other options (breakfast starts at 6:30 AM, which is great if you have early morning plans, as it gets really hot once the sun rises during this month)…. The hotel has a gym, sauna, and pool. The room includes a TV, kettle, hairdryer, toiletries, and complimentary water and coffee….. The only downside was that hot water is not available 24 hours during my stay…. According to the receptionist, hot water is available only during specific hours to adhere to electricity conservation, if I’m not mistaken.. (if I’m not mistaken, starting from 9 AM, but I’m not sure until when) as they have I only realized this when I was about to shower around 8:30 PM and found that only cold water was available. I called the receptionist, and they sent housekeeping to assist…. I’m not sure if it’s a temporary thing only so if you’re concern with this, you can message them first… It’s still a good place to stay, even if it’s a bit far from the tourist spots, as Grab is available at a very reasonable price for getting to the places you want to visit.

GGuest UserIf you're looking for a comfortable and affordable stay near airport in Yangon, Myanmar, I highly recommend this hotel. My recent stay at this hotel was an enjoyable one and I have nothing but good things to say about my experience. The location of the hotel is excellent - it's situated near the airport, and the rooms are cozy and clean, with all the necessary amenities you need for a comfortable stay. Despite being a budget hotel, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the facilities provided, including the comfortable bed, good air-conditioning, and hot shower. The hotel staff were friendly, professional and always ready to assist with any requests or queries I had. The check-in and check-out process was smooth and hassle-free, and the staff were always available to help with luggage and transportation arrangements. One thing I particularly liked about the hotel was the breakfast buffet - it was simple, and delicious This hotel is an excellent choice for travelers who are looking for a comfortable and affordable stay in a convenient location near the airport. I highly recommend this hotel and will definitely stay here again on my next visit to Yangon.

IIsfp-Solo TravelerEverything was goodšŸ‘ŒšŸ‘ŒšŸ‘ŒšŸ˜šŸ’™ā€¦The only downside was that you might feel too lazy to go out or sightsee because the hotel room was very comfortable, and it was extremely hot outsidešŸ˜… —- You could just stay in your room, enjoy the view, go for a swim, or have a spa day…. The breakfast buffet had a lot of options, and they even changed some of the dishes the next day. My favorite was the sauna—it was really good. I also loved the hot shower, as it didn’t turn cold even after being on for a long timešŸ˜ The massages were great, and the prices were reasonable…. The staff were very helpful and kind…. There were occasional power interruptions, but they only lasted a few seconds since the hotel’s backup power kicked in immediately… + Although it’s a bit far from the tourist spots, you can take a Grab—it’s affordable and the best option since it gets really hot during the day….

GGuest UserGood old hotel with antique atmosphere and courteous service, I liked the room but got dissaponted that the bedsheets and towels are too old and not clean, and it has some more caveats. The hotel is situated inward corner from the main street and need to call taxi every time just to get out, which is annoying if you want to go around the nearby area. Inside the hotel building there's one convenient store but the front desk never mentioned that and couldn't find it on the day of arrival. The biggest problem is there are so many noisy and dangerous street dogs nearby the hotel and they are barking at every car going in and out from the hotel, and when you try to walk back to the hotel it is really a big threat as they swarm and try to bite you even in the daytime. Those dogs are seriously damaging the hotel access and make the guests uneasy.
