Budapest Panorama Central

This is a family hotel. 1. There are two check-in points. But the names are different. The store did not explain. It cost a lot of trouble on the day of check-in. I stood in the cold wind for more than 20 minutes that night. 2. No catering. There is also no refrigerator. The surrounding restaurants are very expensive. The breakfast restaurant introduced by the store is far away. The store's explanation of the address was also unclear, and it took a lot of trouble to eat breakfast for the first time. 3. There is no supermarket within at least one kilometer 4. The hotel is located in a residential building. Go through the security door when going out. The security door is equipped with a door open button, which is 4-5 meters away in a straight line, and the store did not explain. There are two green lights flashing on the security door, always thinking that it is a button to open the door, but it has never been successfully opened, always let passersby help. 5, the reception staff are not skilled. Too much inconvenience for simple check-in.
Wombat's City Hostel Budapest

The location is perfect. Right in the center of the city. Really near to airport shuttle bus station, 5 minutes walk. The room however was a disappointment. The first room they put me in the bed has crumbs all over it. Asked them to clean, they put me in a new room instead. The bed was not comfortable, the duvet was soo old and smelly. Pillow as well. The worst was the bathroom. It has a very foul smell 😩. I would not go back again. But then its very cheap and location is not bad!
Vagabond Soho

Located centrally within a short walk to a number of good bars, restaurants and cafes however it can get noisy until the early hours of the morning. The apartment was compact but big enough for 2 people however the bed was a very small queen. There was only 1 coffee capsule for 2 people staying and although there were lots of electrical sockets, they were all for European plugs and not one had a USB connection which would be far more useful for most travellers. The bathroom mirror was laughable - I’m 5ft 2” and could just see the top of my head in it! Instructions to gain entry were emailed on check-in day, which also included downloading an app. This would’ve been useful to know prior to travelling.
Park Plaza Budapest

This is a nice 4 star hotel overlooking the Danube on the Budapest side of the river. Superior rooms are at the front of the hotel, which is the newer part. You have a choice of River View or Castle view, River view is better and attracts a supplement. Our reservation through Trip mentioned Castle view and River view, but you cannot have both! Breakfast is a good choice of hot and cold food, nice coffee and cakes. Rooms are well equipped, clean and serviced daily. Good hot water. Bathrooms have a bath with over bath shower. Toiletries are provided. Towels changed daily. Rooms have safes, kettle with tea and coffee making facilities. The TV was a Cable TV and had a variety of channels, one English, BBC. The hotel has a bar and restaurant and a gym. Staff are very helpful, we managed to check in early and upgrade our room to one with a River view. A good selection of nice restaurants are within 10 mins walk. The hotel is situated directly beneath the Castle, access by the steps or via the funicular which is 5 min walk along by the river, alternatively large buggy vehicles operate a hop on hop off shuttle service. We found that the Bolt taxi service (bit like Uber) is very good. We has a freelance taxi driver try to scam us by not using his meter, we refused to pay and invited him to call the police. Avoid freelance taxi drivers and make sure they use their meters. Bolt uses an app and was a lot cheaper than the price the hotel informed us if we used their taxi service. Photos are from our room window.

Avenue Hostel
4.2/559 Reviews
The hostel is not far from downtown, three metro stops from Deak Ferenc ter (square), the central downtown transit hub. And the metro station is 100 meters from hostel. I was received by an unkind and unfriendly female receptionist who did not want to give me a bed far away from the AC. I checked in at 15:30, when the other beds were available, but she was just lazy to change my bed. In the evening as the AC was blowing so hard and I did not want to wake up sick in the morning, I had to ask another receptionist to find me another room where the AC was blowing normally. He had a hard time to find another bed. When the next day during check out I talked to the manager and stated that I was not happy with the unkind receptionist, she got even more angry. However, the front desk manager noted my complain about the AC and said they would be working on it. Upon picking my luggage I noted that my towel was stolen from the towel rack on the fourth floor terrace. Actually, you have to pay to rent a towel, and some guests do not want to do it, they prefer stealing other guest’s towels. I checked out with the front desk, and they investigated the missing towel with cleaners, but did not find my towel, which was very different than hostel’s ones. I was happy that my luggage that was left at the reception desk upon check out was ok.
Ensana Thermal Margaret Island

Margaret Island
A nice and pretty affordable four star hotel - perfect for families. Clean, relatively big and modern rooms with river view and balcony. The rooms are bright and give you a good feeling. Bathtub and shower in one. Medium size TV with an okay selection of channels. The very nice thing about this hotel is the pool and sauna area. Several pools for swimming, relaxing and one pool with thermal water. They even have kind of a medical spa/hospital attached to the hotel where you can get (health) cure. The breakfast has a great selection and is delicious. The hotel WiFi works very good and is available almost everywhere. The service and staff are friendly and helpful. They provide you a free water bottle in the room as welcome gift, which other hotels don’t as the tap water is drinkable. The location is on the island, where there are parks and kids playgrounds nearby, even there is a very small zoo for kids to play/touch some animals. To go to most sights/inner city/circus/thermal pools you can take a taxi with the Bolt app for approx. 8-10€. Near the hotel there is also a very tasty chain restaurant VakVarjú Étterem with typical Hungarian dishes. The hotel is also very dog friendly. We loved our stay and will come back. We also stayed in Danubius Hotel Helia nearby, but this one here is much better!

Location is so close to the metro, walking distance to many places of interest. Beautiful park right outside the hotel. The hotel was comfortable and well staffed. Everyone was very professional, polite and efficient. The breakfast buffet has a wide selection even for vegetarian.
