Basic but clean hotel. Check in and parking were great breakfast was really tasty and all allergens were displayed and we also were able to get gluten free toast. Location was great at the top of Windamere hill 30 minute walk into bowness. Residents bar wasn't open and the bar next door Orrests head was freezing. We came back up to the hotel in the night hoping to get a drink but the bar had closed earlier than the time advertised which was disappointing as there was no where else to get a drink.

My wife and I stayed at Burn How for 4 nights. Immediately we found the staff most welcoming and friendly. The pleasant atmosphere was maintained at breakfast throughout our stay. The spacious room- with everything you might need- was part of a block of chalets set romantically amongst some beautiful trees. If we return to Bowness we will look no further than Burn How for accommodation. Glyn Davies

A decent hotel with very old furnishing. But what it lacked on it, it more than recovered on its location which is right in the city centre with just 2 min walk from station and excellent staff. The room’s thermostat was not working properly so when I raised this complaint to the reception they promptly provided me with another room heater. The polite and helpful staff enhanced the overall experience

We had one overnight stay while traveling South. Hotel was easy to find with use of Google maps. Plenty on site parking. Efficient check-in. Room was compact, but comfortable. Nice hot shower. Towels were provided. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant, which felt a bit more like a pub with football on TV and a pool table. Not everything on the menu was available to order; although salmon and burger were lovely and plentiful. The waiter was very helpful. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel, as we brought our own. Hotel popular with white van drivers.

Overall, we found the hotel to have all the facilities that we were lookling for and we would be happy to stay there again.

A small lift for one with luggage. Staff were very kind - left my luggage in a locked room while I went to get my hire car. At half the price of similar low-facilities hotels I was happy enough. Might do without breakfast in future and go to Costa.

I’ve booked Low Wood Bay a few times but this was the first time using trip.com - we got an excellent deal and the customer service was brilliant from both trip.com and Low Wood Bay. There had been heavy snowfall so things were a bit up in the air with whether we would be coming or not due to road closures but the staff were brilliant. Thankfully we did get to come for the night and we’d booked the spa the following day. It is one of the best spas I have been to. The views are stunning. The hotel itself is really lovely, fantastic location, extremely clean and all the staff were super friendly. Will definitely be coming to stay again and can’t recommend enough for a relaxing break.

Very good environment and accommodation, the whole hotel is a small resort with a very good environment. The room was clean and tidy, the apartment also had kitchen equipment and a full set of cutlery. The hotel is very close to the lake area and shopping is very close, very convenient. It provides the essential services very well: comfortable bed; hot shower ( spacious, too), clean room. It is near clubs which is noisy in the night, but it is not something bothering me much. After closing the window, I fell asleep soon. I will ask for a room opposite next time.

The hotel is located in a small town with a very beautiful surrounding. It is very comfortable to walk around the hotel in the morning. The hotel rooms are also very beautiful and well-planned. The hotel interior is looking rather tired, the corridors are stark and our room while spacious was unattractive. The bathroom was cramped and poorly designed. It was clean and tidy and the staff do the best they can with difficult facilities and surroundings.

The first time I stayed in such a good hotel, because Edinburgh was not as fun as I imagined, so I stayed for a day and came to Carlisle. I didn’t expect to encounter such a home-like hotel. If you are a family of four coming to Europe unless you book two rooms, otherwise the room is small. You can’t imagine it. Here ~ to book a suite, like at home, the kitchen has everything! I went to buy ingredients that night to make it!
