The hotel's location is fantastic, making it very convenient for both transportation and shopping. The express bus terminal is also nearby. To reach the front desk, simply exit Oita ZR Station North Exit, turn right, go through a small door, and take the elevator up to the 8th floor. Check-in is available from 2 PM. Our room was quite spacious, located at the end of the hallway and featuring large windows on two walls. Unfortunately, they were sealed shut, preventing ventilation, but the air conditioning worked perfectly. The entire hotel was very clean. Despite our three-day stay, the staff promptly replaced our yukata and towels, provided bottled water, and offered warm, attentive service throughout. Breakfast was both plentiful and exquisitely presented, featuring beautiful seasonal Japanese bento boxes. Vending machines and ice makers are conveniently located on floors such as 11 and 14. Across from the front desk, complimentary toiletries and skincare products are available for guests to take as needed. The onsen was spotless and well-maintained, with excellent service. We absolutely loved the convenience of being able to dine directly after our bath. Soaking in the top-floor bath while enjoying the panoramic city views was incredibly relaxing.

Celebrated 520 (May 20th) by booking a more upscale meal that day, and the experience was great ❤️. The location is fantastic! It's a 5-minute walk to Umi Jigoku (Sea Hell), so we went straight there after breakfast when it was less crowded. Regarding service, I have to say: it was the rainy season, and there were many staff members standing at the entrance, but they only bowed. It felt awkward watching adults and children run into the hotel in the rain to check in, and checking out involved carrying our own luggage in the rain too.
The location is convenient and the parking fee is cheap. However, the master bedroom had a stale, stuffy smell — it felt like there was no ventilation at all. I’m not sure if it came from the wall panels or the furniture (we stayed on the 13th floor). The changing area in the women’s public bath also had an extremely unpleasant odour. Some of my family members even felt nauseous after using the room. I really hope the hotel will address these issues and improve the situation.
Baien is truly the best. The private open-air bath and the large public bath are both excellent. (Note: Be sure to confirm the private open-air bath when booking your ryokan stay.) The ryokan is spacious, so walks around the property are lovely. Both breakfast and dinner (kaiseki) are also superb. However, there's no entertainment nearby, so if your sole purpose is to enjoy the hot springs, you definitely won't regret it. I'd love to visit again in winter.
The location is great for shopping and dining. There's a paid parking lot with plenty of spaces. The room was new, clean, and even had a kitchen and washing machine. The bed was super comfortable. This will definitely be my top choice next time I visit Beppu.
Walked to Lake Kinrin in under 6 minutes. I'm not sure if I picked the wrong room type, it felt like there were different styles. Dinner was a standard beef shabu-shabu; the food was ordinary and the sashimi wasn't particularly outstanding, though there was a good variety and I ate until I was stuffed. The onsen was quite relaxing, but it didn't have any views since it's located in an urban area. The last seating for dinner was 6:30 PM, and for breakfast, it was 8:30 AM. However, after breakfast, they actually packed up my bed, which was a bit surprising as I wanted to sleep more. On the bright side, the staff were incredibly helpful and all very nice.
The hotel environment is really nice, and it comes with a private hot spring. The dinner and breakfast provided were also delicious. It's about a kilometer from Yufuin town, and the hotel offers bicycles for guests to use. They also have a shuttle service to the station, which is very convenient.
I stayed here during my solo trip to Yufuin. On the day I checked in, I was playing nearby and accidentally fell into the river. I arrived around 2 PM, earlier than the official check-in time, and asked if an early check-in was possible. They initially said it was only possible at 3 PM. However, the female owner saw that I was completely soaked and immediately guided me to the public bath. She also told me where the nearest coin laundry was and even lent me a pair of slippers since my shoes were drenched. My solo trip could have been very difficult, but thanks to the owner, I was able to finish it healthy and happy. I'm incredibly grateful. If I ever visit Yufuin again with friends or family, I will definitely come back here. Thank you!
This beautiful Ryokan is over 100 years old with deep heritage. I like that it stay as it is as if time stood still. So full of character. I was drawn to the onsens featuring beautiful outdoor views. You'll get to enjoy indoor and outdoor onsens here.. You get to try different types of onsens as they switch around. The highlight was the mountain view, the tranquility that some accommodation lacks due to the amount of guests. Here, you see mostly adults, hence irs ideal for people looking for a quieter retreat. Finally I was absolutely blown away by the wagyu beef at each dinner buffet. The Oita beef was of good quality and there was crab legs and so many variety of seafood and Oita specialty. Breakfast did not disappoint. Love the Yufuin milk and the pudding. Service staff was very attentive too. Ideally for non driving travellers. A short walk to the station and kinrin river.
I was a bit hesitant before booking, thinking the hotel might be a little old. However, it turned out to be the best of the three hotels I stayed at during my Kyushu trip. The breakfast was incredibly rich and deserves a special mention. The surrounding area is very convenient. The only downsides were that the elevators were often busy, and the step into the bathroom in the room could be difficult for elderly guests with mobility issues. On a side note, I had dinner at the restaurant downstairs and wasn't very satisfied. The service was slow and disorganized. I had to ring the bell many times before anyone came. The staff also didn't seem to know their own menu well. When it came to paying, I forgot if I could use the coupon the hotel provided, and the cashier didn't remind me. I feel like I missed out on a good deal.

AAnonymous UserThe room and the Onsen were EXACTLY like those in the listing and were absolutely stunning! The breakfast was delicious and the range more than adequate. The location is good if you drive but is about 1km walk to Beppu Tower and a bit more from the night street. But I’d happily trade that for the spacious room and the wonderful sea and sunrise view.

MM231559****This Hoshino Kai hotel meets the usual high standards of the chain, and its direct ocean view is a big plus. The food, however, was just okay—nothing special compared to other Kaiseki meals I've had elsewhere. My mom even said she wasn't full. The small ice cream was delicious though! The staff's English was pretty good, and they were very enthusiastic when communicating.
EEinfachDillonThe hostel was very nice and had a cozy charm to it. I also met some very nice people there. There is an Onsen in the hostel, and you can get a satisfying breakfast for around 800 Yen. The owner was very kind and offers evening walks (which I highly recommend) and a ride to the station in the morning. The only downside is that it's an around 30 minutes walk uphill from Floral Village, but the view from there is worth it.
All in all I highly recommend it!
XXianrenzhangzhiwuThe location is fantastic, right next to the JR station and the bus terminal. I've stayed at this hotel chain before in Hokkaido, and they consistently offer complimentary late-night noodles from 9:30 PM to 11:00 PM. The hotel also has its own hot spring on the top floor and even provides various flavored ice creams, which the kids absolutely loved. The room was quite spacious with a great wet/dry bathroom separation. Highly recommend!
GGuest UserThis is our 2nd time to stay in this hotel. The 1st time was 10 years ago, the hotel guest rooms have renovated which is quite Modern. Love the new design. The Seaview is still spectacular. Bed and pillow are very comfortable. Onsan is located at basement , an highlight is there is Basket Robins ice cream machine is available 🙂
There is a night drink bar in the hotel at the lobby level, wines , coffee, soft drinks are served.
Breakfast area is spacious , western & Japanese food are served, donuts, pancakes , noodles, vege drinks , all you can choose.

温温泉ラバーひーちゃんGreat value for money, and the location in the city center is perfect if you're just looking for a place to sleep. The ryokan itself was spacious, and the room and bath were also very nice.
GGuest UserWe checked in on 15 Jan, 2026 and planned to stay at the hotel for a nite. When we arrived the railway station , we walked around for a while and got a taxi outside the railway station to the hotel without paying the fare. Probably the hotel had arranged with the taxi drivers in that area that they will pay the fare directly. The check-in procedure is easy and comfy. 2 staff lead us to our room 小樓球。It’s a very nice room with 2 private onsen. The spring water is nice and made our skin very smooth. The hotel had arranged enough drinks for us, 3 alcoholic and 3 nonalcoholic. We had our dinner at ard 7pm. The presentation of the good is very good & eye catching. However, the quality of the sashimi was not very fresh. Taste of the tuna was a bit fishy and it’s wet and found bloody water after picked it up from the dish😓. I don’t eat beef and the hotel changed the 5 pcs of wagu to 3pcs of eel which didn’t taste very well. Not sure whether they grill it or not. Also they changed the beef that served with rice to miso and I didn’t think it’s fair enough. The breakfast on the next morning was up to standard. Bread was fresh and hot. Egg and sausage were quite good. Overall, service is good but the standard of dinner made me disappointed as I had informed the hotel at least one week before check-in and I think they have ample of time to adjust the menu for me.
I’ve been to some other hotspring hotels with same request of not eating beef. They had changed my menu to chicken, pork or seafood like fish or shrimp and provide the equivalent size of meat for replacement.
GGuest UserIt’s perfect for watching sunrise as our room was facing direct east. Unfortunately, it was cloudy and we couldn’t watch that. Location wise is perfect if looking for a getaway in tranquility, otherwise got to drive out for dining or convenience stores. Hotel staff is very polite and friendly. They also serve afternoon snack around 3pm. A very nice gesture especially for guests waiting for check in.
