"If you compare this to a Banyan Tree, your expectations are too high. But if you're just looking for a regular hotel for a quick stay, then you've got the right idea.
I drove myself here, and when I pulled up to the entrance, the bellboy was standing there looking at his fingernails for a full minute, completely ignoring me. Even a basic motel has someone greet you. I got out and asked him, 'Is this Angsana?' He said yes. And that was it. I then doubtfully asked him what his job was, and he said, 'To escort guests into the hotel!' He just stood there the whole time; I'd ask, and he'd answer. He made no move to help me with my luggage and even told me, 'You can't park here' – a definite thumbs down!
After checking in, the front desk mentioned the hotel had handicraft activities and that someone would call me to schedule a time. The girl who called, though, spoke so unclearly, stammering and speaking so softly that I had to strain to understand what she was saying.
The room was small, and so was the balcony. Fine, I don't mind; the price reflects that, and I wasn't willing to upgrade to a suite. There were no welcome fruits either.
The next day, I went for the handicraft activity, and the front desk staff said it was at the spa, which meant driving there. It was that same bellboy again, who asked me mid-way, 'Is it here?' I rolled my eyes 🙄, 'You're asking me?' When we got to the spa, he told me that the handicraft activity wasn't there; it was inside the hotel! What?! I'm left wondering if this hotel just opened yesterday! Aren't handicraft activities a daily thing? How could the front desk get it wrong?
After driving around for half an hour, it was scorching hot. Annoying, right? Or were my expectations just too high for them?
Now for the good parts: you can enjoy the hot springs here, and the environment is beautiful – truly up to Banyan Tree standards. BUT! Don't go too late at night; there are too many mosquitoes!
Regarding service: Vivian and Yumi actively helped me resolve issues, and I saw their sincerity. Another older bell staff member was very experienced; interacting with guests requires warmth, and it seems the young bellboy was put on duty without training – he's not suited for a front-facing role; it really brings down the overall experience.
P.S. The afternoon tea was excellent, truly on point."

"It was truly an outstanding experience. Mr. Xu ended up driving us around for our entire stay - from tea stores to local Dai village, till sending us to the train station. We tasted amazing teas, tried local foods, made tea cakes, went to see ancient tea tree with him; he even invited us to dinner with his friends. Breakfast is amazing with view of clouds; the restaurant in the hotel has really good food. Fruit plate every afternoon; tea tasting with Jiangjiang, a Laobanzhang tea expert. We leaned so much about puer tea and tasted some of the best puer teas in the region. One of the most unforgettable stay ever for us and we are so grateful!"

Our stay at this homestay was nothing short of magical. We traveled as a group of eight, including two young children, three grandparents, and three adults, and every single one of us had an incredible time. Nestled amidst lush tea plantations, the setting is absolutely stunning. Each morning, we woke up to breathtaking sunrises and a serene mist that blanketed the landscape. The house itself is a work of art—crafted entirely of wood and with impeccable aesthetic taste that reflects a deep respect for nature.
But as beautiful as the surroundings and accommodations are, the true highlight of our stay was the hospitality of the host. In our three years in China, we have never experienced anything like it. From the moment we arrived, it felt as though we were visiting a dear friend rather than staying in a hotel. Her warmth, generosity, and genuine care made us feel completely at home.
The food was exceptional, and we were treated to fresh fruits and tea throughout the day. She showed special care for our children, teaching them (and us!) how to make tea, and even accompanied us on a walk to share her knowledge of the local flora. One day, she surprised us with her hidden talent as a musician, singing traditional Chinese songs while playing the guitar and drums. Her smile and positive energy were infectious, leaving a lasting impression on all of us.
This homestay was more than just a place to stay—it was an unforgettable experience filled with beauty, warmth, and cultural connection. "A guesthouse is not just a simple space; it's more about embodying a lifestyle, cultural creativity, and the aesthetics of life… At Auntie's house, I experienced the simple and honest culture of the local people and the long history of tea cultivation. It was a truly memorable trip. On our first day, it was drizzling. Auntie explained that winter in the tea mountains is the dry season, and it hadn't rained for a month. This was the first spring rain, and we witnessed a sea of clouds slowly rising from the mountains. That evening, we drank Pu'er tea made by Auntie and received a souvenir containing ancient tree Pu'er tea she had made. The tea trees here are very old, mostly over a hundred years old, covered in moss and parasitic plants. Tea pickers have to climb these ancient, tall trees to harvest the fresh buds and leaves. I'm very grateful to Auntie for such a precious gift. After having a local breakfast of rice noodles, we spent the morning in the ancient tea garden. At an altitude of 1800 meters, the mornings were cool and the sun was pleasant. The animals here are very free; chickens, pigs, cows, and dogs roamed the tea plantations with us, creating a harmonious atmosphere. I strolled around the village; it was very primitive and rustic. In the afternoon, I saw an incredibly healing sunset. The experience here was completely different from the guesthouses in the city. I was hosted by the auntie herself, and her family was very kind and warm. There were no waiters, and even the animals were free and content. It felt like being isolated from the world, perfect for city dwellers like us to relax. It was truly a very relaxing experience and trip."

"Where do I start? What an incredible hotel and great hospitality especially from 小姚 in the bar. We wanted espresso martinis, which were off menu, and he learnt very quickly how to make a tasty espresso martini. The hotel provides lovely amenities and daily activities. The swimming pool is a real photo opportunity as it’s an infinity pool and you are surrounded by beautiful scenery. The bar has the best views and very chilled. Rooms were modern, clean and comfortable and free dessert was offered on the first night."

I brought my mother to Xishuangbanna to play, from Jinghong to Nannuo Mountain.
It took a long time to choose a homestay. I did a detailed study of various homestays in Nannuo Mountain on Ctrip, and finally chose Nannuo Mountain Tea Garden Homestay. After checking in, I was extremely satisfied with the environment, hardware, and especially the software of this homestay. My choice was completely correct, which shows that sincere guest reviews are trustworthy. We originally planned to stay for one day, and we were very satisfied with the experience and stayed for another day. If the flight home had not been booked, we would have stayed here to have a good time in Nannuo Mountain.
Nannuo Mountain Tea Garden Homestay is very new, the room is very large, larger than some of the surrounding inns, and there is a balcony where you can sit on a leisure chair and look at the distant mountains and clouds in a daze. Banshan Jianglu Hotel is just below the Tea Garden Homestay, and it is far inferior to the Tea Garden Homestay in terms of cost performance alone. It is very convenient to park in front of the Tea Garden Homestay, and it is very convenient to drive here. There is a platform on the roof. If the sea of clouds appears, it is an excellent viewing platform. The homestay has two tea rooms where you can drink tea, chat, watch the scenery, and enjoy the years in the mountains.
Hardware is only secondary. The real trump card of Nannuoshan B&B is the two Hani couples who run it. The young couple is very nice and treats guests like family. The food cooked by the proprietress is very delicious. You don't have to worry about eating when you stay here. This is a key link in running a B&B. Nannuoshan Tea House B&B is far better than some of the surrounding inns in terms of eating. I understand that some B&Bs in the surrounding area have to solve the problem of eating outside by themselves. No matter how much you say, it is better to experience it yourself, and no matter how much you hear, you can see it with your own eyes. The Japanese have a saying called ”Ichigo Ichie”, which means that many people may only meet once in our lifetime. I sincerely thank the good people I met, and the young couple of Tea House B&B are such people. Staying here makes my mother and I very satisfied and happy. By the way, her tea is very delicious, and you must taste it carefully.

Since we arrived early and the room was not ready yet, the owner upgraded us to a 60 square meter one bedroom and one living room suite. The owner was very enthusiastic and had a strong sense of service, and it felt like home.

It was my first time traveling to Menghai. I found this hotel and saw that the reviews were quite high, so I chose it. After checking in, the actual experience was very good. It was the smart room I liked. From the window, I could see the scenery of the village opposite. This was very different from the scenery I saw in other cities. I liked this feeling very much.

xoolisaThoughtfully designed and new rooms - simple but elegant and has everything you need for a quality stay. My room had a view of the mountains and green fields and it was a great sight to wake up to in the morning. There are plenty of places and balconies on both sides of the building for you to slow down, rest and enjoy tea.
Special compliment to the owner and his staff. They helped me with my luggage up the stairs, chatted with me every time they saw me, and invited me to drink with them one night. I made some great friends and can’t wait to come back.
If you’re in menghai, you won’t regret staying here!

The room is clean. It is located in a new development area on the edge of the city. There are tea distribution stores around it. There are no restaurants, so it is inconvenient to eat. Bottled water is available in the room, which is good for us who like to make tea. The TV cannot watch live news (you can only watch it for 3 minutes, and you need to pay), which is very bad for a hotel. You are a hotel, not a B&B, and saving this cost is too much. The breakfast is not bad.

Guest UserIt is still quite a long way from Menghai to Zhanglang Ancient Village. The proprietress specially drove to pick us up and also saw us off when leaving, which was very considerate.
After checking in, we received one-stop service for food, drink, and entertainment, which felt very good.
Eat: Breakfast is wood-fired hanging pot bean porridge, which is very delicious. I drank three large bowls around the stove and was satisfied. Lunch is mushrooms picked in the mountains. The bright red mushrooms are like elves in the mountains, so beautiful and spiritual. Simple mountain spring water stews into a mushroom soup with a strong aroma of fungus. Dinner is wild vegetables and pumpkin sprouts picked randomly by the roadside, which are also very delicious when stir-fried. By pounding bitter eggplant, pounding river bamboo shoots, and pounding tomatoes, you can taste the unique flavor of the mountains. I also ate their own wild honey, which was sweet to my heart.
Drink: The landlady brought out various kinds of ancient tree tea and Pu'er tea for us to taste. With the sound of rain outside the tearoom and the faint fragrance of tea in the tearoom, we chatted about home affairs in an understated way. I felt that although the landlady is young, she has a sense of self-reliance. The sense of self-reliance and strength brings respect.
Wan: Even though the lady boss is young, she got on her motorcycle and took the two of us on the muddy road in the mountains. She was very cool and comfortable. We were taken up the mountain to pick mushrooms, tea in the ecological tea garden, and ancient tea trees in the primeval forest. We also encountered wild Ganoderma lucidum on the way.
Le: The Baixiang Temple in Zhanglang Ancient Village is particularly beautiful, and the thousand-year-old trees are particularly divine. I like the air, spring water, wild vegetables, ancient temples, sacred trees, and the simple and enthusiastic landlady here.
Accommodation: A quaint wooden house. When you open the window, you can see the unique scenery in the mountains in different weather conditions. The mountains shrouded in clouds and mist after the rain, the sunset glow over the mountains and plains after the sky clears, the lush forests, and the clear air.

This homestay really exceeded my expectations. The environment is very good and the rooms are very clean. Even the toiletries are international brands. The hair dryer is also Dyson. These products can be used at such a price, indicating that the boss is really conscience. Finally, the service of the young lady at the front desk and the younger brother is really nothing to say, for fear that you will not be satisfied with your stay.
