"Walking distance from train station which is very convenient but storing luggage after check-out requirement payment. The room is small but the idea of using up the whole space for different need is brilliant, shower room was big. The bed was thoroughly clean and comfortable for sleep. Not noisy because all shops closed very early at Yufuin Town. Hotbath was not bad because of low occupancy. I recommend the hotel to my friends. Front desk receptionists spoke fluent English and were all polite & helpful. All the attractions and bus station is by walking distance too. Convenient for first time travelers to Yufuin."

"This onsen hotel exceeded my expectations – it was truly excellent! First off, every room has its own private onsen, offering complete privacy, so you can enjoy a hot spring bath anytime you like! The hotel environment is beautiful, perfect for taking photos. We were lucky enough to encounter snow, which was the icing on the cake! What's more, the room was fully equipped and impeccably clean! Since we visited in winter, it was incredibly thoughtful that there were heaters everywhere, even in the bathroom. We booked the 'one night, two meals' package, and the food was delicious! The dishes were very unique, and you could really feel the restaurant's dedication. Extremely satisfied! The staff were excellent – friendly and approachable, making me feel right at home. Regarding transportation, we originally planned to drive, but canceled our car rental due to the weather. We took the train to Yufu Eki, pre-booked the shuttle with the hotel, and arrived in about 10 minutes! Overall, this is a highly recommended gem of a hotel! I'll definitely be back!"

"This is one of my dream hotels, and my whole family was extremely satisfied. The hotel owner searched all over Japan for old houses and rebuilt them on this small hill. Each room is unique, an independent villa with a meticulously maintained garden. Our room even had its own private onsen (hot spring bath). The entire decor perfectly fulfilled all my long-held fantasies and dreams of traditional Japanese houses. The service was also incredibly attentive. From check-in, we received professional and warm Japanese service. A staff member knelt down to explain everything to us and arranged our reservation for the forest onsen. The two meals included with the stay were also amazing. One breakfast and dinner were even arranged in their most distinctive tatami room, decorated with artwork by an artist from the University of Tokyo's School of Fine Arts. The dining experience was delightful. The staff member, despite her limited English, did her best to explain everything and even interacted lovingly with the children. The hotel has eight onsen baths, and we booked the Forest Bath four times, which was the most stunning bath of the entire trip. Surrounded by mountains and forests, with views of towering peaks across the way, and filled with birdsong and tranquility, you could easily spend a whole day relaxing here without even leaving the hotel. In addition, there are free hot spring eggs served daily, which you can scoop out and eat yourself after soaking in the hot spring. In short, it was so wonderful that we want to go again."

"It was evening when we arrived, and there wasn't much service, just a simple check-in. The room was quite old, but it's very convenient because it's close to the station, about a 10-minute walk. The roads in Yufuin are narrow and uneven, so pushing luggage was tiring, which made even a 10-minute walk feel long. The value for money isn't great; it's old and small, and everything inside looks like it's from the 90s."

"MODA gave me a great experience. I love the quietness of the hotel, it’s zen. The room is comfortable and well equipped. The staff were kind and welcoming. Love the welcoming drinks session, free flow for all drinks. The food was great as well. A very relaxing atmosphere. Will definitely recommend friends to MODA. Only downside was the location is a bit hard to find, but once you know where, it’s alright."

"The beautiful environment, the eye-catching is the gorgeous red maple. The service is nothing to say, the package dinner is served in the villa, before confirming whether there are taboos or food allergies, different dishes every day, you can also ask for 5A beef hot pot (additional money is required). The breakfast is served in a large restaurant, and it is also a private room. The decoration is very Zen-like. The taste is even better, and the style is too much to eat. The room is a two-storey villa, each with a different but private soup, a great hotel!"

"While the hotel's location is somewhat secluded, requiring a car or taxi to reach, this very fact contributes to its extremely tranquil environment, making it perfect for guests seeking peace and quiet. What's even more thoughtful is that some beverages are complimentary, and you can even swap items. Even the drinks in the in-room mini-fridge are provided free of charge. "The staff members were all very friendly and welcoming. The hotel overall was very cozy, particularly the onsens. Although all the four onsens were opened for all guests at the hotel, you can use one of them as long as you want because guests are instructed to hang a sign on the onsen to show that it is currently occupied. This is a great way for the guests to enjoy privacy to themselves, although it is opened publicly. Dinner and breakfast was included in the package so we did not have to worry about finding nearby restaurants. The food was delicious here! Would definitely recommend if you enjoy traditional Japanese meals to get the full experience. We had a private barbecue for dinner, and it was truly immaculate! However, there was smoke all over the hotel lobby coming from the barbecue so it would have been better if they kept the windows opened. It was also indoors so it was slightly overwhelming with all the smoke everywhere in the restaurant. But everything else was on point and breakfast was particularly delicious. "
