"We had a bit of a hiccup during check-in. We booked a sea view suite, and the description on Trip.com stated it would have a 1.8-meter king bed plus a 0.8-meter sofa bed in the living room. However, when we arrived, it was just a regular sofa. The hotel claimed they never had a sofa bed and asked me to provide proof from the vendor (Trip.com) that one was advertised. I showed the front desk the screenshot, and after some negotiation, they provided a complimentary rollaway bed for the living room (originally 1000 THB per night). This whole ordeal took about half an hour.
First, the pros:
The environment is absolutely amazing. Both balconies offer sea views, and the breeze on the top floor is fantastic – very comfortable to stand out there.
The breakfast menu changed slightly every day, and the fried fish cakes were delicious.
All the hotel staff, from the front desk to the cleaning ladies, would greet you proactively. This is pretty standard for most hotels in Thailand.
Now for the cons:
For two people, they would only provide one room key, citing safety concerns. This made getting in and out very inconvenient. Also, if we left the room for a short while, like to go to the pool, the air conditioning would be forcibly cut off. I suspect they only provide one key to save electricity, preventing the AC from running when no one is in the room.
The second con is that, possibly because it's on the top floor, the air conditioning was very ineffective. When we first entered, you had to sit directly under the vent to feel any coolness. Both AC units in the living room and bedroom were like this. Thankfully, once we settled down, it wasn't too hot and didn't affect our rest.
The third con: On the third day, I woke up to a dead cockroach on the floor. I called room service, but they said they couldn't clean until after 8 AM (I probably made a mistake here and should have called guest services directly). So we left. When we returned that evening, the room had been cleaned, the sheets changed, and the tip I left on the bedside table was gone, but the cockroach carcass was still there. This time, I was smarter and called guest services. 'Dou Bao' (the translator on my phone, I assume) translated that there was a cockroach, and a staff member arrived within a minute with a broom and dustpan to take care of it. That guy was awesome!"
