With a stay at Yufuin Besso Shikisai Hotel in Yufu (Yufuin Onsen), you'll be within a 15-minute walk of Yunotsubo Kaido and Showa Retro Park. "The hotel staff are mostly Korean, and the owner is also Korean. We booked a triple room on the first floor, which was conveniently close to the outdoor onsen. The room itself was spacious and clean. The onsen was also excellent. We visited on a weekday, and it seemed like there were only two groups of guests, including us. It felt like we had the dining area and the onsen all to ourselves. Aside from briefly seeing them at the front desk, we didn't encounter the other guests at any other time. We had booked a package that included dinner. The dinner was a delightful, multi-course Japanese meal (kaiseki-style), where each dish was introduced and served individually, only after the previous one was finished. Upon departure, a complimentary shuttle service to the station was provided. However, getting there upon arrival was a bit tricky; we had to take a taxi (around 1000 JPY) as it involved an uphill walk, and it was quite hot. Walking would have taken 30-40 minutes. The hotel is a convenient 10-15 minute walk from Kinrin Lake and the 'Fairytale Village.' You could easily visit these attractions in the morning, return, and then check out before departing. If you need to do laundry, there's a coin-operated laundromat a 7-8 minute walk away (as shown in Pic 4). For those who prefer to buy their own breakfast, a convenience store is a 10-minute walk, conveniently located on the way to Kinrin Lake."

"This was my second visit since 2017, and it was just as wonderful! It was a hot spring trip with my mom, and everything was excellent from the start. We stayed in the annex, and they moved our luggage for both check-in and check-out, which was incredibly convenient. What really stood out was how they carried our heavy suitcases instead of just dragging them. The main bathhouse was fantastic, of course, and we were lucky enough to use the private family bath three times. We only had to wait once, and the other two times we got right in! My mom absolutely loved it and said we have to come back again. The staff were truly exceptionally kind. Thank you so much~^^"

Nestled on a gently elevated hill—neither too close nor too far from the bustling center of Yufuin—Bisei offers a serene retreat. What first captivates guests is the panoramic view of Mount Yufu, visible from every room in all its seasonal beauty. On a clear morning, the majestic and soothing sight of Mount Yufu from the semi-open-air bath, which flows with 100% natural hot spring water, is breathtaking enough to draw a quiet sigh. Bisei’s charm lies in its exquisite cuisine crafted from seasonal ingredients, its skin-nourishing hot springs, and the sweeping natural scenery. Perhaps these are the very reasons so many guests choose to return again and again.

"The staff were polite and very attentive to guests. The location was decent. The 420 sq ft room had a strange layout 🤔 it was at the end of a hallway, down a flight of stairs, right next to the reservable hot spring rooms. The lighting in the room was extremely dim; even with all the lights on, it wasn't bright enough. My first impression upon entering wasn't comfortable. The room felt quite dated and could use a renovation. Dinner service was excellent, though the food wasn't particularly amazing, just average."

"Located a convenient 10 minute walk from Yufuin station, Sansuikan is a great option if you're looking to treat yourself for a night. There are free flow snacks and drinks (including alcohol) in the lobby, and the dinner and breakfast are all-you-can-eat buffet style, also with free flow drinks. There are two onsens, M/F on the 1st/2nd floor and they swap service twice daily. Both floors have outdoor onsen (rotenburo) but the 1st floor onsen is much larger and includes a sauna. Do note the buffet signages were in Japanese only, so you may need to approach the staff for assistance if you aren't fluent. (Their staff are fluent in English.) Overall I was quite impressed with the experience for the price point. Would come back next time 😊"

A long-established inn with over 90 years of history. We offer comfortable rooms with a gentle atmosphere, themed around the delicate and beautiful traditional colors of Japan. For both breakfast and dinner, you can enjoy seasonal delicacies that showcase the bounty of the local region. All five baths in the facility are available for private use. Solo travelers are also very welcome.

"It wasn't an expensive ryokan, so I didn't expect much, but I was satisfied and had a good rest. It took about 5 minutes to walk from the station, but it was easy to find because you just have to go straight down, and the room was also satisfactory. I tried the kotatsu for the first time, and the heating was really warm. I used the hot springs, the most popular one in the evening, and the small indoor hot spring in the morning. The most popular one is always crowded and is closed during dinner time, but I was able to go in after eating dinner and waiting for less than an hour on the chair in front of me. They set a dinner time, but I was at 6:30, and it seems to be open from 6, but it seems like the first person who had dinner around 7:20 was the one who used it. I think it's about 30 to 50 minutes per time slot, so you can wait. I didn't eat breakfast because I slept in late."

"This is a quintessential Japanese onsen ryokan. We enjoyed a delicious wagyu kaiseki dinner and breakfast in our room, though the dessert was a bit simple. We stayed for two nights and were pleasantly surprised by both meals. The ryokan has four different communal baths (onsen) for men and women, which we made sure to enjoy every morning and evening. Soaking in the open-air bath while gazing at the sky was incredibly relaxing."

Our charm lies in allowing guests to relax freely and at their own pace—more than preset schedules or arrangements from the hotel, guests can enjoy their own time according to their preferences. Located in a tranquil rural area, we are highly regarded as a lodging that offers the most beautiful views of Mount Yufu. From our proud top-floor panoramic bath, guests can enjoy breathtaking, sweeping views of Mount Yufu. In addition, there is an open-air hot spring bath where you can feel the breeze blowing through the basin, along with a sauna that has become popular in recent years. The ever-changing, picture-perfect scenery invites you into a moment of escape from the everyday, like stepping into a painting.

"I really enjoyed my time here at the hotel because of the friendly service and the setting of the hotel where the stunning scenery of Yufu is upfront. It is tranquil and clean. Additionally, there is the Hot Springs where you can enjoy the nature outdoor soaking in the warm water. Highly recommend recommended."

Enjoy bathing in our free flow 100% natural hot spring baths and a sense of freedom, watching seasonal views of Yufudake Mountain.

"Room was clean and breakfast was yummy. The room definitely can fit a family of four. Just that be prepared to set up the tatami yourself, which I'm ok because I used more than a set to thicken my bedding. Very near to Kinrin Lake and Floral Village, all within walking distance. The proximity helps a lot when you want to see the morning mist. The family onsen was great and spacious. Since you have to bath at the onsen area, might as well enjoy the onsen first."

"We went to Fukuoka for Chinese New Year, and since my husband loves hot springs, we decided to stay two nights in Yufuin. The inn's location was superb, close to Lake Kinrin, and very quiet. Just a short walk away was Yufuin main street. We booked late, so our only option was a Japanese-Western style room without a private hot spring, which was a pity and a bit disappointing for my husband. Our 'one-night, two-meals' plan was incredibly filling, featuring what seemed like kaiseki cuisine plus either wagyu barbecue or wagyu shabu-shabu. I'm not really an expert on kaiseki, but I could definitely tell the food was exquisite and fresh. Since we don't speak Japanese, the inn assigned a young, English-speaking waitress to attend to us throughout our stay, which was very thoughtful. As I mentioned, the food portions had many courses, and we were quite full by the end. When the waitress asked if we wanted rice and we replied 'just a little,' she seemed genuinely concerned, thinking perhaps we didn't like the food 😅. I wanted to tell her we were simply already full. As for the downsides, my husband found the toilet a bit far from the sink, especially in the private toilet within the bedroom. The inn also didn't offer laundry service; staff advised us to use the laundromat on the main market street if we needed to wash clothes. In the end, we decided against it and waited until we returned to Fukuoka to do our laundry at the hotel there. Also, I imagine the inn is a traditional Japanese establishment, and the staff are quite principled. We were late arriving due to unfamiliarity with the transport, so dinner was pushed back to around 7:30 PM. They seemed a little displeased but remained composed. On our way back, as our preferred train/bus tickets were sold out, we had to leave earlier. The inn was accommodating with our breakfast time. We initially asked them to reduce the portion for the child and just serve scrambled eggs, but they insisted on serving the full original portions, telling us to eat as much as we could. Their reasoning was that since we had paid, we should receive the full amount we ordered, which we respected. We simply didn't want to waste food. Overall, we were satisfied and really appreciated the Japanese culture and traditional decor in all aspects."

GGuest UserThis was a wonderful stay. After a short tour of Yufuin, the shuttle service I'd requested arrived in front of Yufuin Station. We enjoyed welcome tea in the lounge and were then guided to our accommodation. Having a Korean guest made it even more comfortable. The accommodation was clean and spacious, with everything we needed. The fridge was free of charge, and the coffee was delicious. Think of it as a private, standalone pension. The bathroom and sink were separate, both spacious and comfortable. The hair dryer and curling iron were also provided, which was incredibly convenient. Usually, hotel hair dryers are weak and take a long time to dry, but this one was the best! The manager and staff were all friendly, and I went with my mom and was very satisfied. The photos don't show everything, but this was the best accommodation I've ever stayed in Japan. I'd love to go back with someone special!

SsmilinglilwenThis must be the biggest hotel room I have ever stayed in Japan. It is a traditional Ryokan with 3 Private Onsen available for reservation upon arrival. The scenery and ambience around the hotel were peaceful & very gorgeous. The mountain view from our room was fantastic. Besides, it took less than 10 mins walking distance to the famous Kinrik Lake! 😌🎐 Each guest could pick a 👘 for free too. The services was great and the staffs were attentive too. We stored all our biggest luggages at Yufuin Station and only brought along light luggage because it is far away from station. Gentle reminder for the guest to book a taxi at least one day earlier before your departure. By the way, it was a lucky morning when it started to snow during our ryokan checked out! It made the Ryokan looked even more amazing! ❄️ The only regret was breakfast and dinner were both unavailable during reservation and there is no ryokan contact was available before arrival. It would be 100% if I were to taste the すきやき, Sukiyaki! 🥩🍲

GGuest UserI stayed in this beautiful place with my mom. The house is spotless clean, room is spacious and beds are so comfy. Enjoy the view and feel relax with private indoor onsen (also outdoor onsen). The owners are kind and friendly. Breakfast is simple but delicious. Overall i love this place. Perfect for people who wants to relax in quite vibes. The location is a bit far from the major tourist spots but not too far from the station. But it might not be suitable with the elder people because it takes around 10 mins walk to the house and also rooms are on the 2nd floor.

GGuest UserStaying at this hot spring hotel during cherry blossom season created wonderful memories for my family and me. The hotel provides a convenient shuttle service—just a quick call from the station, and within 10 minutes, a car arrives to take guests directly to the hotel. The staff were exceptionally polite and attentive. Upon noticing that my father was using a cane, they kindly arranged a room for us without stairs, ensuring a more comfortable stay. The accommodation was spacious, featuring a private onsen and a massage chair, which made the experience even more relaxing. Since the hotel is near the mountains, there were a few insects, but it wasn’t a major issue. The food was delicious and beautifully presented, and in the morning, guests could get fresh milk with breakfast. The hotel’s location was ideal—just a short distance from the shopping street and Lake Kinrin, making it easy to explore the area. Overall, it was a fantastic stay, and we truly enjoyed the experience.

GGuest UserThe staff members were all very friendly and welcoming. The hotel overall was very cozy, particularly the onsens. Although all the four onsens were opened for all guests at the hotel, you can use one of them as long as you want because guests are instructed to hang a sign on the onsen to show that it is currently occupied. This is a great way for the guests to enjoy privacy to themselves, although it is opened publicly. Dinner and breakfast was included in the package so we did not have to worry about finding nearby restaurants. The food was delicious here! Would definitely recommend if you enjoy traditional Japanese meals to get the full experience. We had a private barbecue for dinner, and it was truly immaculate! However, there was smoke all over the hotel lobby coming from the barbecue so it would have been better if they kept the windows opened. It was also indoors so it was slightly overwhelming with all the smoke everywhere in the restaurant. But everything else was on point and breakfast was particularly delicious.

EEinfachDillonThe hostel was very nice and had a cozy charm to it. I also met some very nice people there. There is an Onsen in the hostel, and you can get a satisfying breakfast for around 800 Yen. The owner was very kind and offers evening walks (which I highly recommend) and a ride to the station in the morning. The only downside is that it's an around 30 minutes walk uphill from Floral Village, but the view from there is worth it. All in all I highly recommend it!

GGuest UserThis hotel is nestled in the mountains, featuring terraced rice fields, which makes for a very relaxing stay. The rooms are spacious and well-equipped; we chose a room type with an indoor onsen bath. The half-board (dinner and breakfast) meals were also good, and I recommend the Japanese-style breakfast. The baths include both indoor and outdoor options, and overall, everything was very comfortable. The only downside was that when we checked in at 4 PM, we were told that the shuttle service for the next day was fully booked, and we'd have to pay for a taxi ourselves (even though there were empty vehicles available). Despite this, I would still highly recommend Hoshino Resorts KAI Yufuin for an experience.

GGuest UserStaying at a hot spring ryokan in Yufuin with dinner and breakfast included is so convenient and hassle-free. Jukaso Hotel in Yufuin was a great choice. The traditional Japanese garden setting creates a wonderful ambiance. The location is incredibly convenient, just a 5-minute walk directly from Yufuin Station, so even with luggage, it's no trouble at all. I booked a tatami Japanese-style room. It was spacious and clean with excellent natural light. Opening the window revealed mountain views and the greenery of the garden, making it very peaceful and restorative. The amenities were complete, and the double sinks in the bathroom were a thoughtful touch. The hot springs include both indoor and open-air baths. The water quality was pleasant and clean, and it was quiet with few people in the evening. Soaking in the onsen completely relaxed me.
