It has beautiful architecture which made you feel like.you were transported to the past. The room was great with modern amenities. The caretaker prepared wonderful breakfast that we love. The best thing about the hotel was the location. It was just minutes away from Sideng Street and all those wonderful lanes."

"The Wind Blows where the scenery was filmed, and Shaxi Ancient Town's allure is enough to add a stop to a Yunnan trip. Indeed, Shaxi offers peace and quiet. Ji Xiasan (literally: Ji Descends the Mountain) is an indispensable part of this tranquility, making the entire journey comfortable and reassuring. The souvenir, a calendar featuring local Jiamas (woodblock prints), was a thoughtful touch and I loved it. 🌲 Environment: The courtyard style perfectly complements Shaxi, embodying the idea of 'being a slacker in a place where no one knows me.' The courtyard is a harmonious blend of trees, flowers, and scenery. At first glance, it seemed ordinary, but it truly is a very comfortable space. It has a very rustic countryside vacation vibe, yet maintains its own unique character among luxury boutique hotels. The slide in the courtyard was a special touch that even adults enjoyed, and the window views were wonderfully relaxing. Overall, it's full of thoughtful details. 🛏️ Room Type: We booked a double room package, and the staff kindly upgraded us to a king-size bed room. The view was excellent, the underfloor heating was fantastic, and the space was very large. I loved staying in the room, but the inviting scenery also encouraged us to go out and explore. The bedding was very soft, the lighting was soothing, and the room thoughtfully provided body lotion, which is perfectly suited for Yunnan's dry climate. Supplies were promptly replenished, there were plenty of charging outlets, and the TV came with a streaming service – perfect for watching 'The Wind Blows' in ultimate comfort. 💗 Service: After booking, the staff confirmed our itinerary and warmly provided various services. They reserved afternoon tea for us, and when we had an early flight, they immediately prepared a portable breakfast – this is truly commendable. The feeling of being 'at home away from home' was wonderful. We received daily WeChat messages updating us on the weather, afternoon tea, and late-night snack options, and they were quick to confirm messages and deliver items to the room. Many thanks to the staff for their warm service. Ji Xiasan Shaxi is a high-end guesthouse with excellent value for money. 🚗 Transportation: From Lijiang, we booked a bus on Didi for 50 RMB per person, arriving at the tourist center in 1 hour and 40 minutes. The highway was clear with no traffic. To get to the airport from the guesthouse, we booked a ride-sharing car, which took 1 hour and 40 minutes to Lijiang Airport and cost 150 RMB per person. The price mainly depends on whether the route uses provincial roads or highways. Walking from the tourist center to the guesthouse takes about 9 minutes and is very convenient. However, Shaxi has many flagstone roads, making it difficult to drag luggage. You can take a Shaxi 'Little Yellow' tricycle, which is very convenient. 🏪 Surroundings: Turning right out of the guesthouse, it's a 3-minute walk to the ancient town's entrance. A 5-minute walk to the right takes you to Yujin Bridge. It's worth noting that the Pioneer Bookstore and the ancient town are in different directions; it's best to rent a car or take a 'Little Yellow' tricycle to the bookstore, as parking can be inconvenient. Walking further back leads to another gate of the ancient town, surrounded by many handicraft shops, including numerous unmanned self-service handicraft stores that are perfect for introverts and very aesthetically pleasing. 🍜 Meals: The package included breakfast, afternoon tea, and a late-night snack. The flavors were light and exquisite. On our first day, the guesthouse thoughtfully reserved afternoon tea for us, so we enjoyed warm black tea, fruit, and cake right after getting off the bus. On the second day, it was Oreo cake with fruit tea. The late-night snack on the first day was tremella fungus, and on the second day, it was peach resin. Breakfast was chicken noodle soup, but the meals also varied according to circumstances. The food was delicious, and the restaurant was very comfortable. Overall, I'm extremely satisfied. I came for 'The Wind Blows' and leave with fond memories of Ji Xiasan Shaxi. We look forward to seeing you again next time!"

"The most suggestive and beautiful hotel, in the most suggestive and beautiful village! The hosts are the sweetest, and extremely helpful (they even assisted us on our day-trips and transfers). The rooms are visually stunning, very spacious and clean. Last but not least, it is perfectly located. If you plan to visit Shaxi (and you should!), we definitely recommend this place!"

"I had a very pleasant stay at 沙溪归尘 and would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Shaxi who is looking for a clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully run homestay. Room & Facilities The house is very clean and well maintained — everything feels new and well cared for. My room was cozy and comfortable, and the bed was especially nice, which helped me rest well. One thing I really appreciated was that the room even had a washing machine, which is a big plus for longer trips. The garden is also lovely and adds to the calm, relaxed atmosphere of the place. Breakfast & Thoughtful Touches Breakfast was prepared by the owner, and the 米线 (mixian) was honestly the best I had during my entire Yunnan trip — comforting, well-balanced, and made with care. Before bedtime, the owner even brought us a warm glass of milk 🥛, which was such a thoughtful and heart-warming gesture. Location & Morning Mist at 玉津桥 One important thing to note for travelers who plan to catch the morning mist or sunrise at 玉津桥: the homestay does not provide early-morning transfer services, only after 9:00am. The homestay is about 1.5km from 玉津桥, so it’s important to arrange your own transport in advance (for example, 小黄车). I learned this a bit late — at around 7:30am — and almost missed the sunrise timing. Walking there in the early morning was very cold and takes about 30minutes for 1.5km. Luckily, I after walked for a while I met a very kind local let’s call him “小白车师傅” who had just dropped his child at school near the homestay. He generously gave me a free ride to the bridge. Thanks to him, I managed to make it in time. Minor Miscommunication At check-in, I was told there would be unlimited transfers to Shaxi Ancient Town, so I assumed that an early drop-off closer to the town (and then walking to the bridge) might be possible. However, in the morning, the owner needed to stay back to prepare breakfast and couldn’t leave. This was a small miscommunication, and it would be helpful if early-morning transport limitations were clarified more clearly in advance. Overall Impression Other than this minor issue, my stay at 沙溪归尘 was truly pleasant. The cleanliness, comfort, homemade breakfast, and thoughtful details made it a very warm and memorable experience. I would still happily recommend this homestay and would consider staying again — just with early transport planned ahead next time."

"Seriously recommending this amazing hidden gem in the ancient town! It was hands down the best surprise of my entire trip ✨ The butler service was incredibly thoughtful and attentive. Even before check-in, they proactively sent a detailed guide with routes, must-see spots, and tips to avoid common pitfalls, saving me the hassle of planning everything myself. The whole experience was fantastic. The room was spotless, clean and bright, with soft and comfortable bedding that felt amazing to sink into after a long day of travel, instantly melting away all my fatigue. I had a wonderfully peaceful night's sleep. The breakfast was absolutely delicious, with fresh ingredients and authentic flavors. Enjoying a meal in such a pleasant atmosphere in the morning truly filled me with joy. The guesthouse itself had a wonderful vibe, tucked away in the ancient town, quiet and serene, far from the hustle and bustle. The walls, with their weathered textures, made you feel like you'd stepped back in time to the ancient Tea Horse Road, as if you could almost hear the camel bells of old caravans. The whole atmosphere was simply incredible. The service, environment, and food and accommodation were all top-notch. It was a truly immersive experience of the ancient town's slow pace. I'll definitely choose this place again next time, and I've already highly recommended it to all my friends!"

"This is the best hotel I have stayed at in Dali so far.🥰 The ancient town is peaceful, beautiful, and far less touristy than other areas, allowing you to truly experience the charm of local life. The hotel itself is tastefully decorated in a traditional style, sparkling clean, and staff are friendly. Every morning, watching the koi fish swimming in the courtyard feels warm and calming. The atmosphere is incredibly relaxing, making it the perfect place to slow down and forget about ur family. 😆 There are also several excellent cafés nearby, and I loved seeing the local cats and dogs wandering around the town. They added so much character and warmth to the experience. If I return, I would love to stay for an entire week and fully enjoy the peaceful lifestyle here. It's the perfect escape from the noise and busyness of city life."

"The small courtyard hidden in the sand stream mountains, the scenery is really amazing! The terrace faces the continuous green mountains, and the scenery is gentle and healing at dusk. The yard is very exquisitely maintained, with rockery and old pottery plants full of atmosphere. The rooms are clean and refreshing and well equipped. Away from the hustle and bustle, quiet and comfortable, slowly feel the fireworks and mountains of Shaxi, the proprietress is very good, drive to pick us up and help us with our luggage. It’s too suitable to relax on vacation, and I will come to her house next time."

"Service here was impeccable. Great location, tucked in a little alley off the main street with well, newly renovated rooms. Didn't take photos of the rooms but can honestly say the photos listed online are very accurate and look even better in person! The hostess here was very accommodating and very helpful. Breakfast was amazing, a variety consisting of Yunnan noodles, hot cup of soy/milk, fruit, egg and a bun. Extras given when asked. Had an issue of purchasing coach tickets to Lijiang, the hostess assisted in putting her contact number down so my partner and I could buy tickets. Also gave us souvenirs when checking out. Would definitely stay here again and recommend the place to all."

"I originally booked a standard room, but upon arrival, Ms. Duan upgraded me to a garden-view room, and then had afternoon tea delivered directly to my room. This level of service really made for a great experience. Besides the brand-new towels, the room also provided complimentary disposable bath and face towels (this is the first time I've seen this in my many trips to Yunnan), and Ms. Duan even encouraged me to take them home. Although the guesthouse is a bit further from the bustling center of the ancient town, it's only about a 7-minute walk, and I even inadvertently passed by the spot where the 'Fairy Sister' had her phone knocked over. This guesthouse definitely earns a permanent spot on my Shaxi favorites list."
