Mountway Hotel Apartment: A Budget Gem for Asian Travelers in Perth
I recently stayed at Mountway Hotel Apartment in Perth, and I must say it’s one of the best options in its price range, especially for Asian travelers looking for a long-term stay with self-catering facilities.
Location: The hotel’s location is incredibly convenient for getting around. It’s just 1.1 km from the central train station, and you can hop on free bus services like the Red CAT, Blue CAT, or Green CAT, with stops only 100m to 250m away—perfect for easy commuting. Behind the hotel lies the stunning Kings Park and Botanic Garden. If you don’t feel like walking the 300m to get there, the Blue CAT will drop you off effortlessly. The accessibility to public transport and nearby attractions is a huge plus.
Cleanliness: While the exterior might look a bit dated, the interior is surprisingly spotless. I booked a room for two, but the bedding and pillows provided were enough for four, which was a nice touch. Everything felt fresh and well-maintained, and I was thoroughly satisfied with the cleanliness.
Facilities: The private kitchen was a highlight—equipped with a rice cooker, pots, pans, a toaster, a fridge, and enough cutlery, plates, and utensils for four people. They even provide coffee, which I appreciated. However, there are a few downsides: the electric stove is small and outdated, making cooking a bit slow. Also, there’s no salt or basic seasonings provided, nor chopsticks, which might inconvenience Asian guests. The bathroom features a very clean bathtub, but it lacks shampoo and body wash, so you’ll need to bring your own.
Despite these minor drawbacks, I’d still rate Mountway Hotel Apartment as the best value for money in its category. It’s practical, comfortable, and ideal for Asian travelers who want to stay longer and cook meals to suit their tastes. I’d happily recommend it to anyone looking for a home-away-from-home experience in Perth!

This hotel has been designed for conservstive business and family travellers. The pool, spa, jacuzzi is a once in a life time experience. The steam room is exciting. The hotel bar and restaurant is meant for those with blue bood connections ! Ensure you eat before the Michelin style restaurant ceases business at approx 9pm.
The hotel bar is meant for those with an interest in business and politics and would not be a venue that would be welcoming for those without connections to business and or politics.
The hotel gym will certainly bring you down to earth and keep you grounded on the lower level of the establishment.
The rooms with the view of the Swan River is stunning, comforting and the most luxurious of all desk workstation, phone call and the television has a wide range of channels.
A must stay before a saavy developer smashes the hotel to pieces and rebuild something there as it is real estate heaven - situated between the vied addresses of Terrace Road and Adelaide Terrace in East Perth !
A must stay for every traveller who wants to do serious corporate work, mingle or simply attempt to aggrandise with the crowd. A word of warning, strict dress code and a very sophisticated crowd !
Enjoy !

I booked a single room. The location was convenient, just a 10-minute walk from Perth Station. My room was very basic, featuring only a bed, a power outlet, and a table. Toilets and showers were communal. The shared kitchen was quite spacious. However, a significant number of the shared toilets and showers were out of order or had issues.

Hotel is dated, the paint in the ceilings are cracking which is to be expected given the age of the building. The room does not come with dental kit, shampoo or shower foam. So be sure to bring your own. Take note the hotel requires a 250 AUD security bond before checking in. They accept both card and cash. Hotel is strategically located. It is easily accessible to the shopping street and Perth train station. It has some really good food joints just around the corner too.

I managed to book the king standard room for AUD$369 for two nights 😝 Upon checking in, I was doubt the room would be “okay” because the hallway on the way to room looked narrow, a bit dark, and creepy. However, when I saw the room, I was happy because it was spacious. The room looked quite old, but every furniture seems new. Even though one bed light didn’t work well (sometimes on sometimes off), the room was still very bright. The bathroom was very cleaaan which made me even happier 😙it has everything u need for bath: shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, hand soap, lotion, even shaving cream 🤩Unfortunatelly, the hair dryer didn’t work. That’s the only minus from the bathroom. Also, the room has coffee machine (too bad I’m not a coffee lover) and even the fridge which I didn’t expect. Overall, although the room is the lowest level, I’m super happy with it. Will I come back? Yess

The front desk staff were incredibly warm and friendly. The room was spotlessly clean and well-equipped. It was very quiet at night, ensuring a peaceful sleep. Convenient underground parking was available. The hotel boasts a great location with plenty of dining options nearby.

Great
BBaixianshengbaixiaoshengWhile the room wasn't overly spacious, the twin room was perfectly adequate for our needs. We had enough space to open two suitcases, and the beds were a good size. The service was truly excellent; they offered complimentary ice cream for the kids (available daily with a small card), along with donuts and small toys – a really thoughtful touch. Breakfast was good, offering a pretty extensive selection. The location is incredibly convenient, right in the city center, with a 'Red Cat' (a local landmark/service) right outside the door. Booking early with breakfast offered decent value for money, though the price did increase significantly later on.

GGuest UserLocation near Perth station. I think room service forgot to give us toothbrush, only have 1 shower cap in the toilet, i am not sure if toothbrush is provided, anyway we have our own, so didn’t bother to ask, i like the room concept walking wardrobe, location near Chinatown alot chinese/asian food at night, friday night/weekend could be crowded on the street, while the other side of Perth city is very quite after 7.30 pm, so you prefer lively or quite at night ? I will consider to stay this hotel if i go to Perth again, especially they give breakfast 😀

GGuest User1. providing all amenities including toothbrush, toothpaste and slippers.
2. Within CBD area, can take CAT bus for free if you travel inside zone 1.
3. Bus right opposite to Fremantle. Very convenient for transiting to Rottnest ferry.
4. Welcoming drinks for joining their free membership.
5. Daily housekeeping and they store my luggage after my first night staying and coming back the other night.
6. Keep my laundry and trace my new room number after I drop the dirty laundry on my first night. Very flexible services.
7. Breakfast provide soy milk and almond milk, which suit people with lactose intolerance.
8. Good food at UMA. Borrow a very sturdy umbrella to board Rottnest Island on a windy rainy day. Umbrella is still in good situation.
9. Would definitely come back and recommend to others. 🫶🏻

AAnonymous UserThe location was decent, conveniently situated between two train stations and right next to Chinatown, offering plenty of dining options. The room was spacious, and the top bunk bed was quite high, which provided good privacy. The shower water temperature was satisfactory, but the water pressure was very weak. There weren't enough hooks in the bathroom for hanging clothes. This meant if someone else in the room was using the shower, you couldn't shower, as there were no other communal shower rooms in the hostel. On the plus side, there were enough washing machines, and the dryer worked perfectly, getting all clothes completely dry in a single cycle.

AAdnilLocation of the hotel is excellent. It’s right in the heart of CBD, close to shopping, dining, attractions and public transports. A heritage building with a pub/ cafe downstairs and accommodation upstairs. I enjoy the old fashions of the decor, wooden staircases and small rooftop garden. Thanks for upgrading my room to a Queen size bed room with a window facing the street. Generally is clean and tidy. Service is good. Thanks to Mark and all other Receptionists, they were friendly and helpful.
