Hotels in People's Square Area, Shanghai

We really liked the hotel, we had a family room on 19 floor. Breakfast was European, lots of pastries. Location is just right on nanjing street, close to everything. It has an executive lounge on 30 floor where we had snacks and drinks with a view!! The only thing we didn’t have any toiletries in our room. And no iron.. in general, 9 out of 10 for a 4 star hotel. Definitely worth the price!

The biggest advantage of this hotel is its central location – it is situated right on the corner of the main street, Nanjing Pedestrian Road. However, the hotel itself has several drawbacks. For such a large property, there is only one small elevator, which often requires a long wait, even just to reach the reception. Unfortunately, the reception staff did not always have a good command of English, and they often appeared disinterested and unfriendly. They were rarely able to provide real assistance with our questions. Breakfast was good and of decent quality. If your priority is a central location and being close to the pedestrian zone, this hotel could be a suitable choice. But if you are looking for a higher level of service and comfort, you might want to consider other options.

Excellent hotel in a great place, clean, comfortable and very convenient to stay during weekend to visit the main points in Shanghai. The staff were very friendly, thank you so much for your attention and special gifts.

Lin feng staff is so kindly and nice, helped us with our airport transport.. and also have to give a big thumbs up to the front desk staff Pan Pan. She is very friendly and sk helpful, attended to all our requests! Couldnt ask for better hotel! Will definitely come back here our next visit to shanghai :)

Very nice hotel: staff are quite friendly and helpful. Facilities are not brand new considering the overall age of the hotel but well maintained. The living environment is decent and comfortable. You can tell the hotel is recognized but local and international travelers. Cost-effectiveness is high considering the conditions & location. Will come again!

We stayed here for 4 nights and had a very positive experience overall. The hotel's biggest advantage is its perfect location. It's within easy walking distance to the famous Nanjing Pedestrian Road, surrounded by tons of eateries and shopping malls. I also felt especially safe as there is a police station nearby. The staff are truly outstanding - they are super friendly and go the extra mile to help guests. I also love their parcel handling service. Unlike many hotels where you just rummage through a rack, they have a dedicated parcel room and the staff personally assist you, which is a wonderful touch. The room itself was a good size and generally clean. It is also a smart room! However, I did notice it was a bit dusty in the corners. The only other minor downside was that the bathroom felt a little cramped. Despite the small points on dust and the bathroom size, I would definitely stay here again because the fantastic staff and unbeatable location more than make up for it.

First off, huge thanks to the amazing staff here: Lu, Li, and Shu! 💕 They’re all so kind, approachable, and generous. Even the cleaning ladies are the sweetest. One time, I had to rush out and left my clothes in the washing machine, and one of them kindly moved them to the dryer room for me. Such a thoughtful gesture that really shows how much they care for guests. This is honestly the BEST hostel I’ve ever stayed in when it comes to location, cleanliness, amenities, and hospitality. It truly feels like home. ✅ Location Perfect! Super easy to find on both Google Maps and Amap. The hostel is only a 2-minute walk to People’s Square Subway Station and Nanjing Road, with restaurants, bars, spas, malls, and a 7/11 nearby. I also love that they have an English sign outside super helpful for tourists. Many hostels here don’t even appear on Google Maps (since it doesn’t work in China), so it was a nice surprise this one does. For accuracy though, I recommend downloading Amap, it’s reliable when exploring the city. ✅ Cleanliness Definitely five-star level. The shared bathrooms and showers are cleaned and sanitized every hour, and the sinks are always wiped dry so your stuff doesn’t get wet when you set it down. That small detail makes a huge difference! They even have a dressing room just for touch-ups, so rare in hostels. Bedsheets smelled fresh, and they gave me clean ones for every night of my stay. And instead of thin blankets, they provide duvets! Such a HUGE plus. As someone who always gets cold feet, that little touch honestly made my nights so cozy and comfortable. ✅ Amenities They’ve thought of everything. There’s a small gym and yoga studio on the 3rd floor (right next to my room 348 😅), both clean and convenient. Each room also has designated lockers to keep your belongings safe, which gave me so much peace of mind. There’s also a common station if you want to study or work. But the best part? FREE laundry. Yes, free! Detergent included. And the kind cleaning ladies even help you dry your clothes in the dryer room. They also provide a steamer if you need to iron, which is so much better than the usual bulky ironing boards. ✅ Atmosphere & Hospitality The vibe here is amazing. It doesn’t feel like just a budget stay it feels like a community. The staff genuinely care and go out of their way to make sure you’re comfortable. Every little detail from helping with laundry to greeting you with a smile makes you feel welcome and cared for. The lobby is cozy and a great place to meet fellow travelers if you’re social, but it’s also quiet enough if you just want to relax. I’ve stayed in plenty of hostels, but this one stands out. The combination of a perfect location, spotless facilities, thoughtful amenities, secure lockers, and the warm hospitality of the staff makes it unbeatable. If you’re planning to stay in Shanghai, I HIGHLY recommend this hostel. For the price, the value is incredible: prime location, super clean, free laundry, a gym, secure lockers, and staff that truly treat you like family. I’ll definitely be staying here again on my next trip. ❤️

Plus: Hotel is newly renovated. Smart design with most necessary amenities. Convenient location near East Nanjing Pedestrian Street with lot of nice street food stalls around. Minus: Rooms are quite small. Receptions speak no English though some tried using translation application. I deducted 1 point because of the bad experience in checking in. That hotel personal did not communicate in English at all with no service mind. Other than that, all the experience was good. The reception another day even granted us complimentary late check out upon request.

On our way back, we stayed at stayed at the Grand Central again. Not only did they give us a warm welcome, but they also upgraded our room to a suite. The staff was very helpful and kind. They have definitely earned our future business. Its location is a perfect walking distance for the shopping district and just a short walk to the Bund.

This hotel is by far the the best hotel you could book in Shanghai ! As a business traveller , I stay at Radisson each and every stay since the past 10 years . Of my recent stay in Feb and August 2025 , it has once again confirmed my expectations . A huge thank you to the hotel check in staff KARA , she arranged a late check out for me at 3 Pm because my flight was very late that afternoon . A huge thank you to Duch ( I think that’s how you spell his name ) , he was the chef at the breakfast , and he made sure my veg needs were well taken care of . A huge thanks to Ken from the concierge staff ! He actually went out of his way to order me something electronic from Taoba and he arranged the delivery to the hotel . Also went the extra mile to bubble wrap it and secure it for me to take as check in baggage . This hotel is beyond incredible ! Thanks guys for everything and I look forward to my next stay here . Keep up the good work everyone !
