Hotels in Pudong International Airport Area, Shanghai

It is a great place to live in for a solar trailer and very cheap closer to the airport and they have an economic breakfast and the staff are very friendly especially at the reception 

After spending three weeks traveling across China, I chose Joy Hotel for a well-deserved rest before heading home — and it was the right choice. The hotel is conveniently located very close to the airport, and the free shuttle service that runs every hour is a big plus. The hotel itself is very clean, and despite being in the middle of nowhere, it offers great value. My room was spacious, had everything I needed for my three-night stay, and toiletries were available at the front desk. The stay also included breakfast, which had a wide variety of tasty options. The only downside was the front desk service. The staff seemed inexperienced and at times distracted — possibly using personal phones or multitasking when guests needed help. It came across as a bit unprofessional, but something management could easily improve. Overall, aside from the front desk and remote location, this hotel is an excellent choice if you’re looking for a quiet, comfortable place to recharge before flying out.

Airport is conveniently located in the airport between T1 and T2. However if you are a transit traveler you should go out a transit zone, fill the forms, go through immigration gate and get a short-stay visa. It will take up to an hour. Better the hotel would be inside the transit zone. As for the hotel - it’s very big. Carpets in the corridor have a lot of stains, look like they were not changed more than 10 years. Reception area is also shabby and old-fashioned. The room is about 18-20 m, not very big. There are toiletries, slippers, water, kettle, tea. No fridge. Rather silent. But despite the fact I asked for silent room they settle us near the room where housekeeping ladies kept bedding so they were laughing and talking very loudly near our room. We were trying to get asleep after long night flight and finally I got out of bed and asked them to be quiet. All in all impression that the management doesn’t take any actions towards increasing service and renovating the interior.

We arrived earlier than the official check in time but were warmly served by Chris and Snow at the front desk. They were fast and even upgraded us to the high floor room! Such a lovely service received since the beginning of our stay. Room was excellent, very clean with complete amenities, close to the airport and offers airport shuttle service. We had toncheck out earlier than the breakfast hours but they packed us with some bread, egg and banana to go. Loved our stay here. Will definitely stay here again!

Definetly a clear 5 star recommendation from my side. Living many years in China and doing lots of business trips here. Around Pudong airport until now the best choice - 20 minutes till airport, one side residential area and very silent (Other side rooms also very quite). Very clean rooms (have seen three of them, very nice design, not these typical modern rooms, but more ”lifestyle” and ”journey inviting”, calming design and atmosphere. Breakfast I could not try, no time. Airport shuttle available, free once an hour. The team : extremely helpful, very friendly - I changed my room for personal reasons three times (😂) and have got a very nice upgrade finally.

Novotel Shanghai Pudong Chuansha is an excellent choice for travelers seeking comfort and convenience. The hotel is exceptionally clean, with modern amenities and spacious rooms. We had a pleasant stay at this hotel. The front desk is open 24h and we were warmly welcomed by the front desk even though we checked in close to midnight. The hotel seems to be newly built or recently renovated as the facilities were very well-maintained. The room was clean and well-equipped. Breakfast was delicious and there was a good range of food to choose from. It is an airport hotel- so only choose this hotel if you are looking for a short stay after a red-eye flight. Overall, a pleasant stay! Would highly recommend

If you can't speak and understand Chinese well, avoid this place ‼️ For non-chines speaker , services are really poor. Only a female night staff, driver who picked me up from the airport, and admin who I spoke to on WeChat are helpful and provide excellent services! even my Chinese skill is not that good, they all are being so understanding, kind and helpful to me. HOWEVER, the morning staffs on 5th June 2025 are TERRIBLE, not only they are not being helpful, they are also yelled at me. And I got different treatment from them because I can't speak Chinese very well. The morning staffs gave breakfast bags to 2 Chinese guests who signed up for the airport drop-off service at the same time at me but they did not give me a breakfast bag so I had to go get breakfast from the convenient store nearby by myself : ( And when the driver arrived, He yelled at me in Chinese, I didn't understand it clearly and didn't know if he was talking to me, if so, why did he has to yell at me TT so I asked a female staff at the counter, ”Is this the car to airport” and she gave me very bad attitude like I was annoying her. and said yes. After I got into the car the driver was really rude, when we arrived at the Pudong Airport T1, he yelled at t=me to get off the car. There're other two Chinese guests who were heading to T2 but they thought  they already arrived at their destination so now of them tried to got off at the same stop at me and the driver yelled at her very loud, I felt so bad for her.   The location:  Great! if you have an early morning flight to Pudong Airport, it only takes 15 mins driving from hotel to the Pudong Airport T1 Hotel facilities are alright. So many restaurants and convenience stores nearby  16 mins walk to the nearest train station  Cleanliness: found insects inside my room as the window was left opened when I got in TTTT  Honestly, I don't think it's worth money cause there're other hotels nearby airports that offer airport pickup/drop-off service with cheaper price, but I chose this one cause I at least expect better service from them as they are more expensive than others. 

It was a great stay altogether and I would recommend this hotel anyone. The rooms are fantastic, food is super delicious and the staff super nice, I have no words to say, it is simply the THE BEST!!!! 😀 I will surely come here to stay. The hotel has free shuttle service to the airport as a well.

This hotel is right inside the airport so it is very easy to get to. It was also my daughter birthday and I requested for stuff animal as gift because she loves animal. They arranged a cat bag as gift which was amazing service and my daughter loved it so much. However beware there are two holiday inn at the airport so when you call a taxi be reminded to type in the full name of the hotel or else you will end up at the other one which is holiday inn express if I remembered correctly. Overall experience was amazing for this hotel. Room is clean and big.
