"I booked a Sun Rise Lake View King Room with a balcony overlooking Taihu Lake. Upon check-in, the front desk upgraded me to a suite on the 21st floor, which was a lovely surprise and made me feel immediately welcome. Both the hotel butler and front desk staff were incredibly enthusiastic, professional, and attentive, explaining all necessary details thoroughly.
The hotel's environment is quite pleasant, offering stunning panoramic views of South Taihu Lake. The decor is modern and stylish, and it's equipped with smart home technology. However, a significant drawback is that many of the soft furnishings are already showing signs of wear, with some leather items beginning to peel. The hotel's management also needs substantial improvement. For instance, parking (both surface and underground) requires better organization. Personally, I had to circle the underground parking lot multiple times looking for a spot. For a hotel positioned as high-end, the management seems to be falling short of expectations.
The morning buffet service was similarly underwhelming. The variety of dishes was quite standard, and perhaps due to the large number of guests, it felt chaotic and noisy. I even experienced getting stuck in the elevator briefly, which suggests that routine maintenance isn't quite keeping up. Overall, my stay experience was not ideal.
For anyone hoping to catch the Taihu sunrise, be sure to book a room in the Emerald Building; the Crystal Tower faces inwards, so please bear that in mind. Generally speaking, it's alright, but for a high-end hotel, significant improvements are needed in service and management details to truly live up to its reputation."
