"My stay at The Star Grand in Brisbane was absolutely fantastic, far exceeding my expectations overall! The hotel boasts an elegant and grand ambiance with exquisite decor. Both the public areas and the rooms were incredibly clean and comfortable, making for a truly relaxing stay. The facilities were also top-notch; from the in-room amenities to the hotel's offerings, everything was high quality and well-thought-out. What truly stood out was the service. The staff were warm, friendly, professional, and efficient. From check-in to check-out, they made me feel completely at home. "Having stayed at several other hotels since, I can confidently say this one is still the best. The room has everything you need for living and cooking. There's a shop nearby. We happily cooked steaks almost every day. The view from the window is beautiful, and it's only on the 13th floor. The elevators are silent and super-fast. Remember, this is an apart-hotel, so cleaning isn't daily. Our room was cleaned once during our 5-night stay, which was generally sufficient. If you accumulate trash, there's a special room with bins on each floor. The soundproofing is decent. The reception quickly resolves any issues, and you can store your luggage there. We arrived late, and I was worried about being met and checked in, so I messaged the hotel in advance, but it turned out there were plenty of other late arrivals like us at 11 PM. The rooms provide shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, and body lotion from the excellent Australian brand Kevin Murphy. On the 5th floor, there's an indoor and outdoor heated pool, a sauna, and a gym. The hotel's location is ideal. There's a tram stop right behind it, and the main shopping center is a 5-minute walk away. All in all, we were satisfied. We'd love to come back here."

"Caring staff-hotel in an okay location. Worth it for me to stopover on route to Vancouver BC Canada after flying from Hobart Tasmania. I don't like the $9 fee to take you to the international terminal. Everything else is good there, worth it for a bit of luxury and rest."

"The environment was just so-so, and the price was way too high. The rooms are tiny, even the suites aren't very spacious. The sea view is nothing special. The pool was really dirty, full of sand on the bottom. Housekeeping definitely wasn't up to par, I do not recommend this place! The guy at the front desk was unhelpful and couldn't answer any of my questions. Plus, the balcony in the room is small, and they even charge extra for coffee at breakfast!"

"Always a good trip to Royal pines , larger crowd this year than previous so buffet Brekky was packed if you didn’t get in early (still ran pretty smoothly tho) Would recommend bringing your own pillow if your a fussy sleeper like myself, their pillows weren’t to my liking but that’s only a preference thing. Food & drinks are pricey but plenty of other options nearby if you don’t want to spend the extra money. No foxtel in rooms so bring an Apple TV if you can. Rooms were clean and spacious, room service is quick and friendly. Gym is amazing if your into that as well and the pool is always a winner 🙌🏽 Staff are amazing ! Enjoyed our stay and will be back again in"

"The room was pretty standard, felt more like a business hotel than a typical Hyatt. They only provided two complimentary bottles of mineral water. Parking was a nightmare for self-drivers; the car park was incredibly hard to find, located on a tiny street off the main pedestrian area. Breakfast was AUD 45 for one day, but if you booked it for three consecutive nights or more, it was AUD 35 per meal. The food was decent. The biggest advantage was definitely the excellent location, making it easy to walk everywhere. From the room, you could see a landmark building. Oh, and the 'king bed' was actually just two twin beds pushed together."

"My Worst Experience at a W Hotel to Date I have stayed at various W properties, but my recent one-night stay at W Brisbane was easily my most disappointing experience with the brand. For a hotel that prides itself on design and luxury, the functional execution of the room was severely lacking. There were several significant issues that made for a very uncomfortable night: Poor Room Design: The air conditioning is positioned in a way that it blew directly onto my face all night. It was impossible to deflect, and I had to sleep on the other end of the bed. Then I had another issue below. Disruptive Noise: The in-room refrigerator was close the the bed and making distracting noises throughout the night that made it difficult to sleep. Between the mechanical noise and the poorly placed AC, I barely got any rest. Maintenance & Cleanliness: after I woke up in the morning, I was shocked to find a visible hole in the bed sheets. This is not the level of quality control one expects from a five-star establishment. And the bath tub has visible torn and wears. Also the motel level toothbrush. Service: there was no staff at the door helped me and my 70 yo mom with our luggages. I hvae to acknowledge that we arrived quite late but I did expect quality service from a lux hotel. And also no free upgrade offered like my stays with other W. Honestly, I am just glad my stay was only for one night. I expected much better from the W brand and won't be rushing back to this particular location."

This birthday stay was absolutely flawless! I was so surprised when they upgraded me to a sea view room – the scenery outside the window was breathtaking. The room had a wonderful celebratory touch with thoughtful arrangements of wine, cake, and decorations that made for fantastic photos. We had such a great time during our entire stay, and the staff were incredibly friendly. For anyone looking to celebrate a special occasion, this is definitely the place to choose – highly recommended!

The lobby smells lovely, and the hotel is very clean. However, the facilities are a bit dated. It's very close to Story Bridge, making its location a real asset. It's suitable for a 2-night stay, but not ideal for an extended visit. Also, the soundproofing in each room is quite poor; I could hear the foreigners next door having a meeting at 6:30 AM (they're certainly hardworking and ambitious, I'll give them that...).

Every time I visit the Gold Coast, I stay at the Marriott, and the breakfast is always great. However, the caps on the shampoo and other toiletries can be easily opened, which raises some safety concerns. After 6 PM, there are no staff or services at the pool, and it's not lit. For children with UV allergies who wish to swim in the evening, it's not possible. December is summer in Australia, so it gets dark late. I hope the hotel considers extending the pool's closing time, especially since guests are here for a holiday. Thank you.

I specifically booked a twin sea-view room because I didn't want an apartment-style stay. Ctrip indicated floors 3-18, and we ended up on the sixth floor. I wasn't happy with the room; it was too low, the sea view was obstructed, and the lighting was poor. When I asked the front desk to change floors, their responses were inconsistent. First, they said higher floors would cost extra. Then, they mentioned a 20+ floor room with a sea view and twin beds that wouldn't incur an extra charge (but then changed their story when we expressed excitement). Finally, they offered a cooking-friendly room type, which they said still had twin beds and was much larger, for an additional $150/night, totaling $453 for three nights. We decided to go for it, since we'd already come all this way, but we were shocked when we saw the room – it was clearly a king-size bed! Does a sofa count as a bed? After checking out, I realized I'd left my electric toothbrush on the bathroom counter. I contacted the hotel for three to five days, but they kept saying they hadn't found it. Where could it have gone? The hotel's view and cleanliness were good. Anything requested from the front desk was delivered promptly. However, if rooms are available, why does the hotel charge extra for guests who want to change floors when the platform advertises all floors at the same price? And why was the room type different from what the front desk described? It was not twin beds! The front desk training needs to be improved. If higher floors command a higher price, then the platform should not advertise different floors at the same price! This is deceiving customers.

The rooms aren't as new as the ones in Railay, but the suite's terrace offers a great view. The pool is decent too, and the location is convenient. The front desk staff are friendly and can speak Chinese. The surrounding area has excellent amenities, making it easy to find food, drinks, and entertainment anytime, anywhere.

There was no staff at the front desk when we arrived at 5pm. After 5 minutes, a female staff member named Kayla came out and helped a man because the man hadn't bought a travel adapter and couldn't connect to WiFi because of his phone problem. My family hadn't been kept standing and waited for 10 minutes because of no staff and later just one staff helping other's personal problems. Then Kayla started serving my family to check in. But it's another magical 25-minute process. She got my info and card tapped for deposit within 5 minutes. I thought very soon my room key cards will be given to me. But I then have to stand and keep looking at the back of the desktop computer she is using for 15 minutes. She pressed many buttons on the keyboard. But all my family members feel she is not good at IT. Later, two male and another smart female staff are out and help other customers to complete the check-ins. Those entered later than me can get the room key cards earlier because other staff are far more efficient than Kayla. While the two male staff are helping the man's phone connection to WiFi, Kayla put me aside and joined the two male staff to look at the phone. I was shocked how Kayla can keep me standing for 40 minutes and go away without giving me the room key cards. I told Kayla I'm in a hurry then it seems that's the moment she started working for my room key. Finally, I got the key 5 minutes later. I spent only two nights in Brisbane and this 45-minute check-in had already took a large part of my holiday. Maybe this is Kayla's way to keep people spending time in Brisbane and in her hotel.
