Hotels in Inside Tongli Ancient Town, Suzhou

The loft-style room was very spacious, well-equipped, and clean. The owner was incredibly welcoming, helping us with our luggage and immediately giving us a layout of Tongli upon check-in. They thought of everything, even things we wouldn't have considered. We also received a large bottle of Nongfu Spring mineral water as a complimentary extra, which was a lovely touch. It was a very pleasant and satisfactory stay, definitely worth coming back to.

This is a small world of tranquility in a bustling city. Each room has its own characteristics and stories. Behind the small door is a small garden with winding paths and changing scenery. First of all, I want to praise the cat Zhongfen. He soothed a heart that was frozen to slag by the cold wave with his calm cat attitude and generous body. Especially when I returned to the room at night, I saw him and his wife snuggling on the rest sofa at the door, and I felt like I was going home peacefully. Secondly, the two shop assistants were extremely gentle and patient, and had extremely good tricycle skills. They took care of me at any time when I went in and out. Yueshang may not be the best inn, but it is very cost-effective and interesting. If I can come to Tongli again, I will still choose Yueshang.

It is located within Tongli Ancient Town. You need to pay an entrance fee to enter Tongli Ancient Town, but if you contact the owner, she can introduce you to tickets that are (probably) cheaper than usual. The owner is fluent in English, which was very helpful. The atmosphere inside the building is very nice, and you can get the feeling that you are staying in an old Chinese mansion (although we're not sure what era it is from). There are plenty of restaurants nearby, so you'll never be stranded without a place to find dinner. You can enjoy the ancient town at night.

For a weekend getaway to Tongli Ancient Town, I chose this guesthouse. It boasts a great location – peaceful yet central, with easy access to dining and shopping. The guesthouse itself exudes an old-world charm, while the rooms are decorated in a minimalist yet stylish fashion. The staff were exceptionally warm and attentive; they contacted me in advance to inform me about parking and even offered luggage assistance. We opted for the family suite, which comprised a separate living area and bedroom. The living area featured a tea table by a floor-to-ceiling window, perfect for enjoying the river view with a cup of tea. It also had a daybed that could comfortably sleep one person, making it ideal for a family of three.

No entrance fee is required for the scenic area. Driving is also very convenient. The parking lot is very cheap and the owner will pick you up at the parking lot. The hotel is clean, hygienic and comfortable. It feels very pleasant when it rains a little. I really like this Jiangnan water town.

Traveling with children, we arrived at Tongli Ancient Town at around 12 noon, the temperature was 38 degrees. The beautiful girl in the store rode an electric bike to the parking lot to help with luggage. After arriving at the store, she enthusiastically introduced the tour route. The arrangement was very good and the service was very good. The room was large and clean, and the two 1.5-meter-long beds were very comfortable. I wanted to stay for another day because I had already booked it, so I went to find another homestay. I was very satisfied with the accommodation experience and recommended it for traveling with children.

Very friendly and helpful owner. Room was great. Hotel spans over a few separated buildings which gives privacy and feels like you're not staying in a hotel. We stayed 3 days but this is too long and we would recommend 1 or 2 days at most. The hotel is in a quiet area of the old town, but close enough to stroll a few hundred meters to experience the hustle and bustle. You'll need tickets to enter the scenic area to get to the hotel, but the friendly hostess helped us with this. Contact her before you arrive to save time. Scenic area: Lovely little water town. Three beautiful old homes with immaculate gardens. Our favorite one was Tuisi garden. Wake up early to avoid the crowds. The food inside the scenic area is not great (we suspect it's pre-cooked by a company that supplies to all the restaurants inside the scenic area) but going through the main gate provides for a lot of better options. Watch out for the residents on their motorbikes!

The female dorm is right in the heart of the ancient town, making it convenient to get everywhere. The staff are incredibly nice; they'll help you carry your luggage directly from the entrance to the front desk and then to your room. The old town's cobblestone streets are uneven, so I recommend wearing thick-soled shoes when exploring—don't ask me how I know! The tour guide at 10 AM was very knowledgeable; she knew the answer to everything we asked, which was fantastic! We listened to the Pingtan opera at the Grand Theater. There were only a few people on a weekday, so we pretty much had the place to ourselves. I think you can just bring your own thermos and ask for hot water instead of buying the 58-yuan ticket. The performers sang beautifully, and my family absolutely loved it. It was truly enjoyable and affordable!

The ancient town wasn't too crowded, which made for a really pleasant experience! Our room was spacious, and we had an incredibly comfortable two-night stay. The owner was incredibly thoughtful, from helping us with check-in to seeing us off, and also gave excellent suggestions for exploring the area. We'll definitely be back!

The room was clean and comfortable. We particularly liked the unique layout of the courtyard, which the kids absolutely adored. They also kindly helped us with our luggage. The service was excellent, and the host was incredibly thoughtful – they even turned on the air conditioning in advance, so the room was perfectly cool when we arrived on a hot summer day.
