The Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful as far as they could be. On the first day of our stay ( Christmas Day) there were parties going on and we had to go up several flights of stairs to get to the breakfast buffet. Everything was a little hard to find but the food was good when available. The ample grounds were an additional attraction as were the huge trees in the spacious garden. On Christmas Day there were lots of staff looking after the various parties. On the last day, however, ther was only one poor unfortunate waiter in attendance! He did his best but it was impossible for him to keep the buffet food items fully refreshed. He had to do this as well as clearing plates etc from tables. We thought that the lack of any other waiting staff was due to the unavailability of staff from the European Union. The bedroom facilities needed repairs which were unattended to. In particular, the control knob of the central heating radiator had fallen off and could not be replaced. The radiator was on night and day and also made an irritating noise through most of the night. We stayed three nights in the hotel from 24th to 27th December 2023. IN summary, we thought that the hotel could be restored to it's original splendour but would need a substantial investment to improve its standard. The once magnificent hotel seemed sadly neglected because of lack of investment. Otherwise the room was satisfactory. But sleep was difficult until we got more used to the noise at night. In summary, we thought that the hotel needed a lot of money spending on it to improve the facilities and make dure there were enough staff.

WE HAD A FRIDGE The toilet sit had some soap smudge on it and initially thought is something else but if foamed when tried to clean it (I always have sanitizer with me as is only human to miss a spot and do a mistake. Didn't kill me cleaning that myself. Housekeeping job ain't easy. Bless you all. Just keep a better eye to avoid Karen type❤️) The receptionists were all friendly and happy to assist me with both check in and check out. We absolutely loved our room and the view was magnificent. The dawn was heavenly seen from our window❤️ What I loved the most was the fact that in the room we had a FRIDGE. Many hotels don't have that anymore and imagine having a room without a fridge with this heatwave going on 🥵 I will attach a photo with our beautiful view🤩 This hotel will be my top choice whenever I'll need a room around the area. Clean room, clean hallway, clean reception area. Please keep an eye for the accessible rooms. Read all description and detail before booking as they have special rooms for people with a health condition and the room will have some things at a low level to the ground. Will be your fault for not choosing the right room not the hotel's as you need to read description always. Don't take it out to the staff for your own mistake😊 Seen a lot complaining about that, as I've seen also about the rooms accessible and didn't understand the term initially, until I went through the details. After reading the details I knew exactly what room I need to book and what would not be convenient for me🙌 Bless you all and hope this review will be of help to some of you at least 😊

I wouldn't consider this a good stay, as I encountered several issues. First, the check-in process was a hassle since this hotel doesn't have a front desk. I spent hours calling the hotel, facing either ”Line busy” or no response after a long wait. If it wasn’t for Trip.com's customer service finally connecting with the hotel, I wouldn’t have known what to do. Second, the wooden door in my room was difficult to close; it required a hard push and made a loud ”bang.” The glass sliding door of the shower room was also problematic, it fell out on my first pull, and I'm certainly not strong enough to break a door with just one pull. Lastly, and most frustratingly, was the toilet paper situation. It was my first time encountering a toilet without a single roll of paper. I can't imagine what I would be if I hadn't brought my own in my bag that day. On a positive note, the room was well-equipped with a fridge, oven, heater, toaster, and even an iron, which suggests the hotel might have been quite good when the things are all good a few years ago, but not now.
Ibis Styles Barnsley

The Ibis styles is a quirky funky hotel situated around 2 miles from the centre of Barnsley, this is about £4-£6 in a ride share or taxi service. Upon arriving I was met by some super friendly reception staff who quickly checked me in, even managed to get me in an accessible room having noticed I was on a mobility scooter, much appreciated for the shower in the morning. On top of this they advised on local food delivery options and allowed me to eat it in the bar area! Such a kind and accommodating gesture as it was 11pm by this point. The Rooms are spotlessly clean as pictured, spacious with big windows, all the usual in room stuff you would expect and a nice sized tv too. The beds themselves the “sweetbedz” super comfortable overall, a bit firm for my personal preference but much better than most hotels around the ibis average price. Can’t wait for the opportunity to stay again soon. The breakfast I believe was the express option, the staff where great and assisted me, one plate i found to be plenty and was a tasty way to start the day.

Great location for city centre though no parking, entrance lobby and bar area very presentable. Staff spoken to came across as friendly and approachable. Only 1 lift working. Never saw the spa area to comment. Room spacious, bathroom with bath and shower separate - shower very good rain fall. A mini fridge is a nice addition to the room. Would have expected some fresher milk condiments rather than UHT jiggers. Basic tea/coffee condiments. Our room overlooked the winter gardens roof. The window does not open (which could be a deal breaker in warmer months). Rather quiet. Bed itself..... terrible! Old pocket springs that desperately needs replacing or at least topping. Was like trying to sleep on a death rack ... massive let down! Awful nights sleep. Hair dryer did not work. If wasn't for the shocking beds/mattress I would consider staying here again especially due to price and location. However the main reason you stay somewhere is to sleep ...and that was not a nice experience at all here.
DoubleTree by Hilton Sheffield Park

We were issued keys that failed to open the door forcing us to make our way back to the front office. Our room, by the way was last on a long corridor on the upper floor of an extended wing if you can picture that. We booked (and paid for) a room for three but upon entering, the extra bed was not made up. Tried to call every number on the house phone but none was answered which meant another long walk to the front office, again. When we found the drain in the shower clogged I was hesitant to complaint to avoid further disappointment but I did anyhow and true enough - nothing was done. I must admit the hotel had one of the widest selection of tea and coffee (and chocolate drink mix) I've seen in a hotel room. I appreciated the coffee but unfortunately, restocking was only done once throughout our 4 night stay. I wonder if this was to be expected. Double Tree is a respectable brand (at least in my part of the world) but I don't understand what could have gone so wrong with this one.

The hotel is budget friendly. Location is pretty good - close to the city centre. The staff at check in were great but I tried calling the hotel eight times the day before travel to ask a question and there was no answer

First time using this motel as needed somewhere to stay while visiting friends to arrange a funeral and is only a couple of miles away from their house and price was perfect. Its not trying to be something it isn't, the rooms are showing their age but the bedsheets and towels looked brand new. The bathroom again has aged but the shower was powerful and everthing served its purpose. Tea/coffee and a very clean kettle is supplied and there is a tv and electric radiator. Staff very helpful and the maids very curteous. I have already booked a room again for the aforementioned funeral as apart from price the check-in time is 14.00hrs which is perfect. I did not try the food as i had no need to so can't review it. All in all not a romantic weekend away place but great for stopovers and again if you want something better you will have to pay more for it.

Nice, convenient, clean, easy to reach, and essential. Ii obtained a quiet room, which is what I was looking for. Some noise may come from the corridor but the night I stayed was quiet. The staff at reception was lovely. Walking distance from the city centre. Considering the affordable price, this hotel delivered excellent value, I would recommend it and visit it again in future.

I stay regularly. It’s great value for a single room. The shower is good. The bed is comfortable enough. The location is great if you need access to the university. The only downside was my room was super hot. The heating was off at the radiator but I still had to sleep with the window open to make the temp bearable, which might be okay in other locations but there was lots of students walking by. Nonetheless, the hotel is good. Staff are nice. Clean and coat efficient. I’ll be back to stay again
