Ise Shrine in Ashikaga City, Tochigi Prefecture 𓂃◌𓈒𓐍 𓂃◌𓈒𓐍𓂃◌𓈒𓐍𓂃 A shrine located in the center of downtown Ashikaga. It is said to have been founded in 1151 (the first year of the Nihei era) during the Heian period. It was revered by the Nitta and Ashikaga families as "Ashikaga-sho Ise Shrine," and is known for being revered by Ashikaga Takauji, Mochiuji, and Nariuji after the Kamakura period. It was moved to its current location in 1929 (the fourth year of the Showa era). The shrine is built in the Shinmei-zukuri style and consists of a main hall, a hall of offerings, and a hall of worship, where Amaterasu Omikami is enshrined. If you go around to the back, you will find the Outer Shrine, which enshrines Toyouke-no-Okami, the god of food, clothing and shelter, and Tsukuyomi-no-miya, which enshrines Tsukuyomi-no-Mikoto, the younger brother of Amaterasu-Omikami.
