Akashi Benten Itsukushima Shrine in Ashikaga City, Tochigi Prefecture 𓂃◌𓈒𓐍 𓂃◌𓈒𓐍𓂃◌𓈒𓐍𓂃 Itsukushima Shrine is located at the bottom of Mt. Ryogai. There is a story about a woman named Yae who was born into a family with a short life expectancy and lived in this area. She was grieving over her family's short life expectancy when a travel guide appeared. Yae was advised by the guide that if she made a 100-day visit to Benten Shrine, which has a pond with spring water, things would change for the better. On the 100th day, she met a man and got married. They had a large family, and Yae's short life expectancy came to an end. She is said to have lived to be 102 years old. The deity enshrined here is the beautiful Benten, an incarnation of Ichikishimahime. It is said to protect the beauty that shines from within women, and grant wishes for "beauty, health, and longevity." Benzen is enshrined inside the Bijin Benzendo Hall, with Nade Benzen on either side, and Mizukake Benzen a little further away. The shrine is usually unmanned, but the office appears to be open on certain days. They also issue beauty certificates, and if they are not there you can get one at the nearby Car & Cycle Tanaka.
