The National Gallery (Chao Fah Art Gallery)

The National Gallery (Chao Fah Art Gallery) is located next to Phra Pinklao Bridge on Chao Fah Road. It was built in Western architectural style, designed by Carlo Allegri, an Italian architect in the Siamese royal court. The design was inspired by a factory in Birmingham, England. The main building at the front is a two-story structure with a hipped roof covered with kite-shaped tiles. The main building extends into long wings on both sides, forming a single-story square layout with right-angle corners. The ridge, eaves, door frames, and windows are beautifully decorated with intricate wooden carvings. Today, it serves as a center for collecting and exhibiting both traditional Thai art and contemporary international art by renowned Thai and foreign artists from the past and present.
