Pay homage to Luang Por Phutthasothorn at Wat Bang Saothong

🏡 Wat Bang Saothong was established in 1672 during the Ayutthaya period. The name and history of its founder remain unknown. Originally, the area was a garden with a canal used for transportation and trade. At one point, a Mon ship sank in front of the temple, leaving its mast visible above the water. Villagers built a brick ship as a memorial on the western side of the ordination hall, which has since fallen into ruins. From that time, the temple was named Wat Bang Saothong. 🙏 This temple once uncovered two large sandstone Buddha heads from the early Ayutthaya period. Resembling Luang Por Mongkol Bophit, they were found leaning against the base of a Bodhi tree and old brick ruins, believed to be the site of the original vihara.
