🏘 Wat Bang Khun Thian Nai was built around 1757 during the Ayutthaya period. Originally named Wat Khanun, it was likely renovated during the reigns of King Rama III and King Rama IV. Key highlights and attractions within the temple include: 🏠 The Thai-style ordination hall (Ubosot) features square, plain columns supporting the eaves. These columns, without decorative capitals, are typical of the style during King Rama III's reign. The pediment is adorned with traditional Thai motifs such as Cho Fa, Bai Raka, and Hang Hong, with stucco designs decorated with colorful tiles in floral patterns. Inside, the principal Buddha image is in the Palilay posture, surrounded by mural paintings depicting the story of Chulapathum Jataka. These murals represent the later period of traditional Thai art. The ordination hall is enclosed within a sacred boundary wall. 🛕 Two decorated chedis and corner chedis at all four corners, along with gate pavilions in a Western-style clock tower design, resemble those at Wat Pho. These structures are adorned with stucco patterns influenced by Western and Chinese styles. 🏚 The bell tower is constructed with brick and stucco, featuring decorative stucco patterns.
