Giant Swing

The Giant Swing is a landmark of the old city of Phra Nakhon. It stands tall on the island in the middle of the road that looks like a small roundabout between the city hall and Wat Suthat. It is actually a giant swing. Its English name is Giant Swing. Currently, only the vermilion pole remains. It was built for use in the swing ceremony in the Triyampawai ceremony of the Brahman-Hindu religion, along with the nearby Brahman temple near the island next to Wat Suthat to preserve the tradition of building the city in the ancient way during the reign of King Rama I during the establishment of Rattanakosin. Most of the beautiful photo spots are on the side with Wat Suthat as the background. The best time to take beautiful photos on this side is in the evening when the sun is about to set and you can see the sky changing colors. The photo below this review was taken late at night when I was driving past and stopped at a red light at the intersection leading to Thanon Dinso to the Democracy Monument. Therefore, the background is on the Samran Rat side, which during the day is an area selling religious items and casting Buddha images. #Giant Swing #Bangkok
