Located on a volcano that erupted in the past and has been extinct for over a million years (one of the six important volcanoes in Buriram Province), after the Khmer era fell, Phanom Rung Stone Castle was abandoned and rotted for many years until it was later restored, with various parts reassembled and the center of the door aligned with the sunrise. Every 15th day of the 5th lunar month, when the sun rises parallel to the mountaintop, we can watch and experience the first light of dawn phenomenon, seeing the sun in the same line along all 15 doors, which is a miraculous event that only occurs once a year.
