It is not known when Wat Nantaram was built, but in 1924, Father Ta Ka Jong Nanta (Wu) Wong-anan, a Pa-O tycoon who received a concession to make timber for a foreign timber company, had a strong faith in preserving Buddhism. He invited people with faith to join in the renovation and improvement. Father Ta Ka Jong Nanta (Wu) took the responsibility of building the current chapel by hiring Burmese craftsmen from Lampang Province to design and construct it as an entire teak chapel with Burmese architectural style. The gable roof is raised in beautiful tiers and is covered with wooden shingles. The ceiling is decorated with intricately patterned stained glass. It took almost 10 years to complete.
