Wat Chang Taem

Wat Chang Taem, formerly known as Wat Chang Tom Kwang Tha Chang Phing Chai, was built during the reign of King Tilokarat. It is an ancient and beautiful temple in Chiang Mai Province, approximately 400 years old. The temple is quiet, peaceful, and shady. Inside the temple, the highlight is the Phra Phuttha Phuttha Fon Saen Ha, a bronze Buddha statue in the Mara-Vijaya posture, Chiang Saen Lanka, approximately 1,000 years old. Chiang Mai people consider it to be the Buddha statue of the city since the past. They believe that it can bring rain according to the season. The temple is an adapted Lanna architecture. The entrance is a Lanna archway with stucco designs of two swans and nagas intertwined into an archway. Inside are enshrined groups of Buddha statues in the Mara-Vijaya posture. Each statue has a different face, very beautiful. Next to it at the back is a Lanna-style pagoda mixed with Burmese art. It is white with a square base. Each corner has an umbrella. The top is a 7-tiered golden umbrella, very beautiful as well. Wat Chang Taem is located on Phra Pok Klao Road, Phra Singh Subdistrict, Mueang District, Chiang Mai Province. The temple is located in the inner moat. After Wat Chedi Luang, you will reach the traffic light. The temple is on the right.
