Hidden Gem Alert, Hwangaksan

#summervacay Took a spontaneous hike up Hwangaksan, and wow why is no one talking about this place?! The trail starts off mellow, just strolling through forest paths with leaves crunching under your feet. Super quiet, barely ran into anyone, which was kinda perfect. Total zen mode. Halfway up, things get steeper and a little sweaty, but nothing too wild. The best part? The ridge walk! You get these awesome panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and little pockets of farmland below. It’s the kind of view that makes you wanna just sit down and snack forever. At the summit, there’s a cool marker and some nice spots to chill. I brought some triangle kimbap and just took it all in. Not a tough hike, but enough to feel accomplished. Also, major bonus, hardly any bugs compared to some other trails I’ve been on lately. If you’re ever in Yeongdong, give Hwangaksan a shot. Super underrated and totally worth the climb.
