Jingdezhen has such a place

Perhaps due to inconvenient transportation and ticket prices deterring many visitors, compared to the crowded Imperial Kiln and China Ceramics Museum, the Bingding Firewood Kiln is a delightful surprise. It feels more like a hermit hidden deep in the mountains. Upon entering the exhibition hall, your gaze is immediately drawn to the concrete and the linear beams of light, instantly reminiscent of Tadao Ando's Church of the Light. The architectural design amplifies the play of light and shadow, accentuating the exhibits scattered throughout the space, creating an atmosphere of serene solemnity. A significant portion of this concrete structure is built with cross-stacked bricks, allowing light to pour in freely. In essence, the building itself is a stunning work of art. The kiln is named "Bingding" because "Bing" represents the blazing yang fire akin to sunlight, while "Ding" symbolizes the gentle yin fire resembling moonlight. The combination of Bing and Ding signifies the harmony of yin and yang, the coexistence of spiritual energy, and the tranquility of all things. As a private kiln, it has now become a paid attraction with limited exhibits, making it ideal for photography and architectural aesthetics enthusiasts. If you're interested in viewing exhibits, visiting a museum might be more rewarding. It's said that the kiln is fired only once every three months, with each firing lasting several days. During our visit, we coincidentally encountered a firing session, though no artworks were being placed—just coffee beans being roasted.
