Hualin Temple in Guangzhou, first built in 527 AD, is the first of the four major Buddhist monasteries in Guangzhou, and is as famous as Liurong Temple, Guangxiao Temple and Haizhuang Temple. According to historical records, the predecessor of Hualin Temple was called "Xilai Temple". At that time, the Indian monk Bodhidharma set out from faraway India, traveled a long distance by sea, and finally landed on the north bank of the Pearl River outside Guangzhou City (now the area of ​​Xiajiu Road). In order to spread Buddhist culture, Master Bodhidharma established the "Xilai Temple" here. As time passed, in the 12th year of Shunzhi (1655), "Xilai Temple" underwent a major expansion and name change. At that time, the Main Hall was completed first, followed by pavilions, halls, inspection rooms and other buildings.
