Guangzhou Hualin Temple is a Buddhist temple with a long history. It was built in 527 AD and is the first of the four major Buddhist monasteries in Guangzhou. The four major Buddhist monasteries include Hualin Temple, Liurong Temple, Guangxiao Temple and Haizhuang Temple. According to historical records, the predecessor of Hualin Temple was a temple called "Xilai Temple". The origin of this name is related to the Indian monk Bodhidharma, who arrived in Guangzhou by sea and landed on the north bank of the Pearl River outside Guangzhou city (now the area of ​​Xiajiu Road). He then chose this place to build this temple. However, the real formation of Hualin Temple was in the 12th year of Shunzhi (1655), when the Main Hall was first built, followed by the Pavilion Hall and other inspection rooms. This series of construction activities marked the official renaming of "Xilai Temple" to "Hualin Temple".
