Guangzhou Wuxian Temple reopens with Forbidden City-style red walls.

Guangzhou Wuxian Temple has reopened with Forbidden City-style red walls, attracting a constant stream of visitors. No tickets are required and no reservations are needed for now. Wuxian Temple was built in the 10th year of the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty (1377) and is a temple for worshipping the Five Immortals. It is located at No. 233, Huifu West Road, and is a Taoist temple facing south. The large plaque above the door has the four characters "Wuxian Ancient Temple" written by Rui Lin, the governor of Guangdong and Guangxi during the Qing Dynasty. Wuxian Temple is built on a mountain and currently has a front gate, a rear hall, an east room, and a west room. Wuxian Temple has a green glazed tile double-eave hip roof, and the wooden structure is well preserved and exquisite. A large piece of red sandstone is exposed on the east side of the rear hall, with a huge footprint cavity on it. The ancients always believed that this was the "thumbprint of the immortal" and protected it as a key cultural relic. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, it was listed as one of the Eight Scenic Spots in Yangcheng as "Suishi Dongtian" and "Wuxian Xiadong". Ziyan Pavilion was originally a storage space on the northeast side of Wuxian Temple, and is now a multi-functional venue for displaying the history of the "three veins" of the old city and conducting cultural activities. The name "Ziyan" comes from a sentence in "Gu Xian Jiu Ti" by Gu Chengzhi, the first scholar in Lingnan during the Northern Song Dynasty, "Break through the red dust and enter the purple smoke, visit the gods and immortals on the Wuyang altar".
