Located in Hongshan Village, Huadu District, Guangzhou's "mini Lugu Lake" offers a blend of lake and mountain scenery, making it a perfect place to relax and unwind. If you're driving, the journey from downtown Guangzhou takes about 1.5–2 hrs. Take the Xuguang Expressway and exit at Timian. Then, follow the signs to Hongshan Village. The scenery along the way is beautiful. If you're taking public transport, take subway Line 9 to Huadu Square Station (Exit A). Then, transfer to the Hua17 bus (Wangzishan route) to Hongshan Village Station. The journey takes about 2–3 hrs. Please be aware of bus operating hours. During the day, you can stroll along the lake, take photos, and participate in agricultural activities such as rice planting and fruit and vegetable picking (depending on the season). You can also hike along the mountain trails and enjoy overlooking views of the lake. At night, you can go stargazing and camping in designated areas. Remember to prepare or rent equipment in advance and pay attention to safety and environmental protection. Some homestays or campsites hold bonfires, which are very lively. When it comes to food, don't miss out on the local cuisine. Ingredients such as free-range chicken and reservoir fish are fresh. Local snacks such as Hakka Wormwood Rice Cake and Jishi Teng Cake are also worth trying. For accommodation, you can choose a cozy rural homestay (CNY 200–500) or camp in the public camping area, which has basic facilities and charges a site fee.
