2024 Hong Kong Island Tour: Cheung Chau Half-Day Tour

Cheung Chau Island, located southeast of Lantau Island, is one of the most popular island destinations in Hong Kong. Compared to Lamma Island, which we visited a while ago, Cheung Chau is smaller in size but offers beautiful scenery and a more vibrant atmosphere, making it a great spot for tourists to explore. Today's itinerary: Cheung Chau Ferry Pier - Pak Tai Temple - North Lookout Pavilion - Cheung Chau Family Walk - Nam Tam Tin Hau Temple - Sikao Road - Cheung Chau Mini Great Wall - Kwun Yam Beach - Tung Wan Beach - Cheung Chau Ferry Pier. This route mainly consists of flat roads with minimal elevation, making it relatively easy. In fact, the highest point on Cheung Chau, the North Lookout Pavilion, is only 100 meters above sea level. Due to time constraints, we didn't visit the Cheung Po Tsai Cave in the southwest corner. The court in front of Pak Tai Temple is the venue for the annual "Bun Scrambling" event (Photo 6), and the sculptures in Pak Tai Temple are exquisite (Photos 7-8). From the North Lookout Pavilion (Photo 10), you can enjoy a panoramic view of Cheung Chau to the south (Photo 11) and a view of Hong Kong Island and Lamma Island to the northwest (Photo 12). The route from Nam Tam Wan to the Mini Great Wall is less crowded and offers stunning scenery, reminiscent of the views along California's Highway 1 (Photos 16-18).
