Maduchun Noodle House

While searching for a place to enjoy bomal kalguksu (sea snail noodle soup), I discovered Maduchun, a restaurant specializing in kalguksu. This establishment has been operating for over 15 years and offers a variety of dishes, including Jeju bomal and abalone mulberry leaf kalguksu, perilla seed kalguksu, chicken kalguksu, and glutinous rice pork tenderloin sweet and sour pork. Whether dining solo or with a group, you can enjoy these dishes here. Located on Yonghae-ro, in front of Jeju Yongdam Coastal Road, Maduchun Noodle House is just a 3-minute drive from Jeju Airport. If you're driving, you can park behind the Jay Bike building across the street from the restaurant. On weekends, you can use the open parking lot next to the Jeju Immigration Office near the restaurant. On this visit, I ordered Jeju bomal and abalone mulberry leaf kalguksu (10,000 KRW per bowl) and a small portion of sweet and sour pork (15,000 KRW) for lunch. After placing the order, the staff brought side dishes and barley rice to the table. The barley rice, with its chewy texture, was delicious when mixed with the red seasoning sauce. The bomal kalguksu is made with Jeju bomal, abalone, and mulberry leaf noodles, crafted using the restaurant's long-standing expertise. The soup had a rich and nutty flavor unique to bomal, and the noodles were soft and plentiful, making it a great value for a solo lunch at just 10,000 KRW. For an extra kick, you can add the chili peppers served separately with the dish. Even for someone like me who doesn't usually enjoy spicy food, the added heat was manageable and enhanced the flavor. If you visit Maduchun for kalguksu, I highly recommend trying it with the chili peppers.
