Jeju Yeondong Bar 'Kkeul'

Kkeul's Jeju Yeondong branch is a bar that gained popularity after operating for a long time in Seoul's Jamsil area. It offers various Japanese dishes at affordable prices. As part of its opening event, visitors who participate in a review can enjoy a glass of Asahi draft beer for just 1,000 KRW. On the day I visited, I ordered the assorted seafood okonomiyaki and yakisoba set. The savory and rich flavors made them perfect pairings with beer or highballs. The interior of the bar is decorated with a Japanese izakaya theme, and Japanese songs play through the speakers, creating an atmosphere that feels like traveling to Japan. It's an excellent choice for a couple's date or a gathering with friends, making it highly recommended for those looking for a bar in Jeju's Yeondong area. From the moment you step inside, lively Japanese music fills the air, and the overall cleanliness and izakaya vibe of the establishment stand out. There are tables for groups as well as counter seating at the bar. One side of the wall is impressively decorated with stonework, and inside, there are tables for two where you can enjoy Jeju okonomiyaki and yakisoba together. The menu includes okonomiyaki (assorted seafood) and yakisoba (spicy chicken, seafood), and you can opt for set menus to enjoy them with highballs at a more affordable price. Drinks like soju and beer can be ordered via the kiosk at the table. Highball options include Suntory, Earl Grey, cinnamon, and lime, while Japanese drinks like sawa (yuzu, melon, lemon, blue) offer a sweet flavor similar to chuhai. The rich taste of the yakisoba pairs well with the two sauces provided at the table, and when enjoyed with crunchy bell peppers, it becomes even more delicious—highly recommended for noodle lovers. The signature dish, Jeju okonomiyaki, is a Japanese teppanyaki-style pancake made with flour batter, cabbage, meat, seafood, bonito flakes, fried egg, and cheese. Unlike the pancakes commonly eaten in Korea, it tastes more like pizza, but with a distinct Japanese flavor. Think of it as different from Korean cabbage pancakes, offering a unique taste experience.
