Red Mountain in Muju

#summervacay Took a random trip out to Red Mountain in Muju, and it was such a vibe. Not a super high peak or anything, but the name isn’t lying, there’s this reddish tint in the rocks and soil that gives the whole trail a unique look. Kinda felt like hiking on another planet at times. The trail itself is super manageable. Starts with quiet forest paths, then opens up to rocky ridges with really solid views. You can see the Muju area stretched out below and some of the nearby mountains doing their thing in the distance. There’s a peaceful, uncrowded feel to the whole hike. No big tour groups, no loud music, just nature sounds and the occasional “annyeonghaseyo” from fellow hikers. I brought a kimbap and some iced tea, found a spot near the summit, and just chilled for a bit. If you’re in Jeollabuk-do and want something a little different with some color and peace, Red Mountain’s a solid pick.
