3-in-1 Nian Gao and Two-Color Sweet Potato Balls at Pacific Kopi Jalan Dhoby

#favouriteitinerary Pacific Kopi at Jalan Dhoby quickly became one of our favorite spots to relax and enjoy some traditional treats with a twist. It’s located on the second floor, and the lovely view from up there really adds to the whole experience. You can sit back, sip on a drink, and watch the world go by while enjoying some really comforting snacks. One of the things we couldn’t get enough of was the 3-in-1 purple nian gao. It’s a modern take on the classic glutinous rice cake, with sweet potato giving it a vibrant purple hue. The texture of the nian gao is soft and chewy, and the sweetness is just right—not too much, but enough to satisfy our cravings. The addition of sweet potato made it feel like a nostalgic treat, but with a fresh twist that kept us coming back for more. We also loved their two-color fried sweet potato balls. These crispy little bites are golden on the outside, but inside, there’s a soft, sweet potato filling that’s just perfect. The two-tone effect of yellow and purple sweet potato made them even more fun to eat, and they paired so well with the drinks. Speaking of drinks, the Hor Kar Sai (虎咬狮) is a must-try at Pacific Kopi. This unique beverage, which translates to "tiger bites lion" in Hokkien, combines the rich, bold flavor of coffee with the sweet, chocolatey taste of Milo. The result is a refreshing and energizing drink that’s both comforting and satisfying. It’s the ideal drink to enjoy alongside their savory and sweet snacks. The second-floor seating area really makes Pacific Kopi special. With a great view of the area below, it felt like the perfect place to unwind and savor each bite. Whether we were munching on the 3-in-1 purple nian gao, sipping on Hor Kar Sai, or enjoying the fried sweet potato balls, we felt right at home in this cozy spot. It’s definitely one we’ll be visiting again! #afternoonteatime #thingstodo #localfood
