Mont Saint-Michel Abbey in France

Mont Saint-Michel Abbey is a magnificent structure located at the center of Mont Saint-Michel Island. Originating from a chapel built in 708 AD following a revelation by the Archangel Michael, the Benedictine monastery was established in the 10th century. The abbey features a blend of Romanesque and Gothic architectural styles, with many highlights including cloisters, a refectory, and a guest hall. In the 14th century, it also served as a fortress, and after the French Revolution at the end of the 18th century, it was used as a prison. Today, it is known as a pilgrimage site and a popular tourist destination.
