Iwate Bank Red Brick Building in Morioka

The red brick architecture resembles the atmosphere of Tokyo Station. This is the Iwate Bank Red Brick Building located in Morioka, Iwate Prefecture. It is designated as an Important Cultural Property of Japan. I visited during Golden Week. Currently, the building is used for exhibitions and events, and visitors can also tour the facility. Unfortunately, I visited on a day when it was closed, so I could only enjoy the exterior, but it was still a delightful experience. Since it was designed by the same architect as Tokyo Station, it indeed has a similar ambiance. If you cross the pedestrian crossing and position yourself diagonally across from the building, you can capture great photos of the entire structure. (Be cautious as it is on the road.) Nearby attractions include Sakurayama Shrine, Morioka Castle Ruins Park, and the Ishiwari Sakura tree, making it a great idea to visit them together. While taking picturesque photos is enjoyable, the changing scenery is also a highlight. (The proximity of a shrine, cherry blossoms, and retro Western-style architecture is truly fascinating.)
