Praying for blessings to welcome the new year at Sanghathan Temple 🙏

Today I had the opportunity to pay homage to the Buddha at Wat Sangkhathan in Nonthaburi Province. This is my first time here. Wat Sangkhathan is very spacious and beautiful. It is very shady. It is assumed that the original name was Wat Sarikho and it was built in the late Ayutthaya period by craftsmen who were skilled in the Lankawong style. During the Sukhothai period, there was only a Buddha statue, Luang Pho To, enshrined in an old wooden pavilion. However, local people often came to pay homage, so they had to invite monks from nearby areas to offer alms to the temple. Therefore, it was popularly called Wat Sangkhathan. Until 1974, Luang Pho To was renovated, the original pavilion was demolished, and a new chapel was built instead, which is how it is today. The atmosphere of Wat Sangkhathan is like a forest monastery, shady with nature. The temple organizes ordination activities for women who observe the 8 precepts.
